Can anyone tell me from this body tag what engine option this 66 Town and Country has? 383 or 440?

Thanks ......Arthur

You can cross-check the distributor number. RB engines had distributors with a longer shaft, due to their higher deck height. 440 distributors will work in a 383, but require the Mopar Perf spacer to compensate for the longer shaft. Carb numbers can work, too. Plus the shape and location of "a boss" on the front of the block.

In some model years, wagons didn't get dual exhausts. A few years when an optional 440 (other than the base 440) was in the wagon, it still was single exhaust but with a few more horses (from a little warmer cam specs). The '66 would have just had the normal 440/350 motor. The 440 TNT 365 horsepower motor had the normal cam, dual snorkel air cleaner, and dual exhaust in the non-wagon cars.

There apparently were some early production '66s that had an "H" engine code. My '66 Newport Town Sedan is that way, although it has the expected 383 2bbl. Last year for the "H" 413 was '65.

In '67, the optional 383 4bbl in my Newport CE23 was still listed as "383/325 horsepower" in all of the literature, BUT came with a single exhaust from the factory. ONE year it was that way. Plymouths and Dodges (non-wagons) came with dual exhaust 383 4bbls in '67.

Interesting info Cbody67! Just note that things are never cast in stone with Mopar.... my 66 T&C wagon came with the 365 horse 440 TNT motor and duals.
