Anybody lowered the front of their 1966 Imperial via turning the front torsion bars down? looking to improve the stance of mine. but haven't seen any good pictures of how to do so. any information is greatly appreciated

Stan is past the age of reprogramming and the only correct stance he's referring to is to the factory specs. Most on this site will agree with him including myself in most cases however I do like the way these cars look when lowered. Your car is looking pretty damn good btw..
Cranking the front down is as simple as righty tighty, lefty loosy but you should know that it changes the geometry up front and it will no longer be aligned properly. Get yourself a factory service manual for it for sure.

Thanks! I understand the geometry issue side of it. but is the actual adjusting bolt on the lower control arm or back on the cross member. Ive done similar torsion mods with newer gm trucks

It is in gut of control arm lefty loosey will bring you down and only dropping a inch or so should not affect your alignment, your bump steer is no good if this happens (this is not a GM vehicle with up and down arcing center link) your camber will be a bit negative if you lower like 2" but will actually help handling with radial tires.

2" inches should be your limit. Any more than that and you'll be bouncing of of the bump stops , which doesn't feel good! It is as simple as turning the bolts. Although not an imperial it is similar. Here's my 67 fury with 2" blocks in the back and tbars turned down.

The adjustment bolt in in the control arm, you will see it sticking down in the middle.

@MarPar yeah the jbs swift hog plants on the north side of Marshalltown im kinda in the middle of town.

and besides wanting the car to sit just a tad better, the years and a mean gangster lean to the one side makes me wanna address the torsion bars there fellas. im old enough to know better but still to young to give a sh*t!

A Swift plant? Watch out Stan they are making drivers now.

I'm starting to think I will never be old enough to know better.... Still waiting.
