I have about 500 of these. no kidding, probably that many. New/Unused. Had 'em for going on 20 years, got' em in car deal, and just opened a box in my warehouse and found them.

take a look please?

are these repops, or NOS pieces .. how would I know the difference or does it even matter? are they "illegal" to sell or otherwise restricted for resale in some way? listed for a 1968-1974 Mopar .. that true? were they used on OTHER cars (GM/Ford/AMC)?

Any help/advice appreciated.

there are some "legalities" about the plates of course .. its like a mortgage application to get one of those replaced.

yeah, you're right tho .. they are all over ebay and thanks for that reference

geez .. $6 to $15 each? PD 4501 here I come :)

Folks they ARE going on ebay once I find out more about what they are .. applications and the like, NOS or repops, etc. then i will figure out a price and let 'em fly.

FCBO members for 30 days or more get 30% off all my ebay stuff (not Ebay Motors stuff like Cars, or things over $500) anyway but we could deal direct here and save each other a couple bucks on the deal.

paypal would be best way to settle up. thanks to anyone interested.

You have e bay stuff?

all the time .. you fellers used to trash me regularly here 2011-2014 till I joined. some of ya still might.

I exaggerate to make a point .. some of you were kind, a few not so much, on my ebay stuff.

anyway, i have a few odds and ends on. but in 10 years, 35,000 square feet of cars and parts have gone through ebay.

'member that bus I want when I am 65? :)

thx

Well, hell, tell us who to look for and we can give ya crap all the time. :poke:

i'm hiding in plain sight out there. :) most of the "good" stuff (NOS things) went 2009-2015. about 70 cars went in that time frame.

so i am much less popular now that its "odds and ends".

If you are changing out dash pads how else would you move the vin plate?
I asked that question of a friend's son that works for the NYS DMV. He does the inspections of cars that have "funny" paperwork for them and is pretty sharp on what it legal and what isn't.

His answer... Technically, in NYS, you are breaking the law as soon as you take the dash out or take the VIN tag off. As he said, that's the letter of the law and there's a lot of "gray areas". His final word on it was "Don't publicize what you are up to and don't tell me any more details, but someone would be a real dick if they didn't understand you were restoring your car".

I grind off the rivet from the bottom to remove the tag and glue, (JB weld?), it back on with the rivet heads in place.
Agreed I should have clarified. Actually that's what I did on the replacement pad for the Polara. My question was only rhetorical directed that the legal issue around interior restoration.

Too many worries. I once swapped pads and left the old VIN on the pad. The police would ask when I was stopped but I showed them the door sticker and they were fine.

My brown 71 , I switched pads with a nice one. I drilled the old VIN off and set my VIN tag in the divot. I never had an issue.

Too many being paranoid

I had the same conversation with the CHP VIN officer that did my CHP car, you technically are in violation by removing the dash from the car, removing the tag from the pad was even worse. Same thing, don't talk about it (even though I said it is standard practice and the only way to restore the pad), he ask me to remove the two pictures showing the "hidden" body numbers from my website. When I said that those were the only two on the car he said "you can think that", I said people have been cutting these cars up for 50 years and know where all the numbers are, "so they think".

My tag is epoxied on with the top half the rivets glued on.

On my Barracuda I waited till I had the new stainless rivets before I drilled out the originals, being a 67 they were on the a-pillar.

I am gonna have to limit the FCBO allocation to 100 pieces tho

I have "set aside" 30 pieces already for those of you who have PM'd me with interest at the price I quoted you. BUT then I gotta limit FCBO orders to 2 pairs max (sold only in pairs) per member -- only to try to get as many of you covered at the discount price as I can.

I will honor any deal i made BEFORE this post #17 tho - you know who your are -- for more than 4 pieces.

I will provide status update in this thread as to how many of the 100 pieces are left in the FCBO allocation.

thanks.

Some buyers will think "Gee bargain" (some are selling for $12+ each piece), others will "colon dump" on me cuz I aint givin' 'em away for free. thats the way of things out there.

Not free?!?

Let me be the first to give you a bunch of crap for that...

Sorry I'm not a customer... these items are too likely to be forgotten to be an inventory need for me. For those who are using them... just don't pull into your local state police barracks when doing the work and everything will be fine...

And I've been lucky enough to know the rite folkz to supply my needz on the few occasion's I've swapped dashes and needed those little jewelz
