I have a 66 Polara that has a perfectly good roof on it. My car doesn't need it, and I'd hate to see it get crushed. If anyone can use it, I'll give it to you, you pay shipping. I'm going to take the front of the car off, and once that's done, it's bye bye for the hulk remaining. If you need or want a spare roof for a 66 Polara or Monaco, here it is.

The 56 Mercury Medalist? Laura's Dad's car. Just got brakes working and new carb and intake on it.

I should say correct carb on it, someone threw a GM 4Jet on it. Got the correct Holley 4000 "Teapot" carb for it. Freshly rebuilt and put on a runner, them pulled. So glad cause I'd totally screw it up!

So, does anyone have any tips for taking this roof off? Where to cut, where NOT to cut? I was hoping to take the lower corners of the rear window channel, would that still be possible? Not going to happen for a week or more, going to watch me some Top Fuel cars this weekend, then tear into Sidetrack 2 with a bit more focused effort.

Id cut the rear like this, the front I'd just cut as low on the post as you can.

I'm not interested in the car or the roof, but I don't get it either; why do you want to cut the roof off? Is the rest of the car junk?

Floors are real soft, I'm taking the front clip, already removed the interior, will take the trunk and doors off and keep them. Just don't want to see a roof get crushed that someone could use. Maybe I'm being too optimistic that someone needs one.

That 66 Polara 2 door hardtop roof is the same as a 65 Polara/Monaco, 65-66 Fury, 65 Newport & 300, and 66 Newport. Where I've seen some of the worst rust on these is on the top of the quarter panels where the roof meets the quarters. For that reason, I agree that you should allow as much as possible of the top of the quarters to stay with the roof (even though the quarters themselves are different on Chryslers and Plymouths.
