1972 Imperial Idler Arm Needed

Rare Parts does NOT have one on the shelf.
I too did not want to cripple my car. I called Murray Parks and bought a used bad one for $125. I sent that one to Rare Parts and for $292.50 + shipping I received back a new rebuilt idler arm; so all said and done I'm in it just under $450. Its what you do when you love your Imperial.
I haven't swapped it out yet as I'm on a job in Massachusetts but when I get home, it'll be the first thing on my list; which is at the bottom my wife's list...
This is exactly what I thought i'd be doing...bunch of emails out yesterday and one to Murray Park...they have that 73 sitting in the weeds...not sure if they pick at it or sell whole...maybe they have another idler arm to save.

Just talked to Murray Park...they have one for me...$125.00... just like you said...then likely I will send out for rebuild.

Well. Not to take bread off of Mr. Parks dinner table but I'll pay it forward!! How's about I sell you my old one for $65 + shipping and the next 72 Imperial brother or sister (ha ha, right) that needs one get's your old one for $35?

Sounds good to me.

In my '70 Imperial I have the Moog K7014 since last year. They say it does not fit for Imperials but it works. Should have done a front end alignment but it was not necessary the mechanic said.

Interesting. ..i've seen those around from $19.00 to $34.00.

For 19 or 34$ I would check that part first. If it does not work it's bad about it but not dramatically. Then you still can fix it by Rare Parts.
BTW I paid 60$ here in Germany.

Just wondering what your timeline would be if you still want to sell your idler arm? I have a local salvage yard lifting up a 73 Imperial to check for idler arm...no commitment to them...but would a 72 and 73 be interchangeable as far as idler arms?
