What kind of adhesive would you recommend for adhering emblems that do not have pins or screws?...see pics from donor vehicle...manufacturers and dealerships must have a very reliable product when retention of a plate or emblem is reliant on just the adhesive properties. Not sure if local hardware will suffice with options...something really strong

out there?

I used to be partners in the shop that made a lot of the emblems for cars and motorcycles. A lot of our emblems mounted with tape. If you see a Harley with a cloisonne enameled badge, it came out of our shop.

Basically, it's a foam tape. A good body and paint supply store should have some.

Surfaces have to be clean, that means no wax etc. and the tape is pressure sensitive. Hold it firmly as you place it and don't expect to remove and reposition after it hits the surface. Mark where the emblem mounts with masking tape as a guide to getting it on right.

Thanks for the advise. Just as a side note...I've kind of found an interest in vintage dealer emblems...I wonder if there is any similar interest out there? My Imperial came without all the original emblems and imbellishments...I would think cool to find an old dealer emblem.

The one is on the back of my 53 Windsor. New London was one of the busiest whaling ports in the 19th century

I agree with the 3M tape. I had my Dealer Emblem sent out and reconditioned.. had them cut off the pins on the back and used 3M to reinstall it, 2 yrs now and holding strong. P.s. I did get the tape from my guy at his body shop, not sure if what he uses is better then what We can get at our local parts store.. just say'en 3M tape worked well for me.
