Chrysler 300F Special GT?

I believe this car was at the 300 club show at Elkart Lake WI. car show in the fall of 2016. There are a few more detailed pics of this if you do a google search of this event. If I remember correctly rumor was he paid 400k for it.

The show pics were on this site by GlennB. He had his '79 300 there and I had my '62 300 Convertible stick car there.

There was a recent article in a car mag that talked about the Fs prepped for Daytona, but the term GT was no where to be seen.

I made a post on this car as well just after I joined this site. I showed the results of two different auctions at the time as I recall. I haven't looked back in the archieves though to find it. The second owner of the car, now deceased, was a well known guy in the Chrysler 300 Clubs.

I vaguely remember reading about these cars long ago in an old Mechanix Illustrated or similar magazine in an article by Tom McHale. I know I've read about them many times, and I distictly recall Tom mentioning he was considering canceling his Imperial order for a 300F after driving.

I think it was his article that also mentioned the speed potential left on the table after an illadvised lowering of the rear tire pressures for traction (made them squirrelly at speed). Or maybe that one was at Bonneville??? I believe Tom was involved in the speed trails at Daytona.

Wish I still had that article and those old magazines now.

Chrysler engineer Bob Rodger mentions the Special package (including the 4 speed manual transmission) in this 1959 or 1960 promotional video for the Chrysler 300F, beginning at 16:59.

Hard to keep track of the sales on the 8-9 F Special 4 speed cars that ran the sand at Daytona in the way back of April of 1960. I used to know owners of 3 of them 30 yearz ago but I've lost track of all three. I'd like to think those guyz are still doing well but? Jer

I have a new lottery car. If I ever won and if one ever came up again for sale. Very cool
