Hey guys, I just got done doing the Scarebird front disc brake conversion on my 67 Newport Sedan. Right now im doing just a mild motor build, but look to up the Cubic Inches and power in a couple years. Are rear disc brakes worth the extra $500?

Take it for what it's worth. I did the 4 wheel deal as I feel that a 4000+ Lb. car needs all the help it can get stopping. Parts are getting harder to find for brakes so there ya go! I'm very satisfied with the stopping power from 4 wheel brakes on my 66-300. Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Well I did the scarebird kit on front. You use parts from the part store that are easily to get. For the back I found a wilewood kit for $500. Labor is free because I can install. I kind of leaned towards what you said stubs300 its a big ole car. Just didn't want go throw money away if I wouldn't see much of a difference.

I agree that the back drums are fine. I converted to discs on the front this spring and am very happy, big difference.

If you are going to build 600hp monster, then yes. Otherwise, spend the money on quality machine work on the engine. Or spend it on the transmission upgrades needed to handle the "monster."

you cant throw money away when it comes to brakes. the only difference you will notice is when its too late. think about it.

That's what he wants to know, if he'll see much of a difference. Which is what these guys are saying. Drums are fine , discs and drums are good, all discs are better, it's not worth the 5 if he's cruising with a moderate HP engine

I was referring to a situation when some ******* pulls out in front of you and you wish you had better brakes. what is so hard to understand about that?

The misnomer that drums are no good is just that. Sure discs are better. If youre gonna worry about s someone pulling out in front of you, park it. What about the ******* behind you ? Now what?

If some a-hole pulls out in front of a c-body he better hope that he has:
A:) Good insurance
B:) Good life insurance.
