Did you ever find the source or application of those generics? Damn those look good.

I've halfheartedly searched eBay and there's a lot of similar ones out there. I need to pull one off sometime and get some good pics and measurements.

I also have a set of the late 70s 15X7 Chrysler road wheels on one of my 1970 Chrysler 300s but I was unable to find the correct trim rings either. I ended up using a set from a Pontiac 15X7 road wheel that were really close, but I still had a small gap at the center. After looking at these deeper, wider road wheels from the Dipolmats, Lebaron, etc, I concluded that I really liked the original 15X6 rims on the fuselage cars, just because they looked "right" (the correct mopar 15X7 trim rings do not have the same shape as the original trim rings on the 15X6 rims on the fuselage cars) and the reality is that for the whitewall radial tires I can get in the 235-75-15 size these days, the greater width of the rim didn't really do much to make the contact patch any better from what is available on the replacement tire market today. So if the wider width rims don't really enhance anything in terms of performance (especially with the flimsy side walls on today's radials), I decided against pursuing this path.

In Big John's application of wider raised white letter BF Goodrich Radial TAs, then maybe the wider 15X7 road wheel changeover would have some usefulness. I also believe the trim rings on Big John's car look better, closer to the original 15X6 road wheel trim rings on our fuselage cars than the correct trim rings for the later 70s 15X7 mopar road wheels, where the front face of the ring in more rounded and wider than the early road wheel rings as shown in Mr. C's photo.

And I will not drive on bias plies even if I could get them - I hate them.

Thanks for pointing that out. Then I think my search for original ones ends here, cause the shape shown by Mr C is not the shape I was looking for.

Hey Trev, they are fine and look great on a SFGT for shows, but a pain to drive on - they follow every line in the road and have poor traction and ride harshly. And how good could that rubber be after all these years unless those are some sort of repop. But to each his own! Enjoy!

I have this same discussion with Carsten each time I see him!!! Its all in good fun. :p

Steve makes a good point.
If the car requires whitewalls, and the largest WW readily available is 235 x 15, there's no need to search for 7" wheels.

I have to admit that I love Big John's 7" combo, tho...

As I recall, the 15x7 version of the W23 Class II 16 Slot Road Wheels were only on the later 1970s (Aspen/Volare platform) Chrysler LeBaron and similar Dodges. There should be some sales brochure images online, somewhere, I suspect. These wheels typically had a body color center insert, rather than the painted silver area the 15x6 wheels had.

15 x 7 s were from 78 to 81
...so the trim rings were not only deeper, the appearence was also different compared to a 1970 road wheel?
Correct as my pic shows, deeper and no brushed look.

I think the 15 x 7s work just fine on my Formal! Then again, so would the 15x6's. I agree that they don't appear to add much for the contact area with my 235/ 75 R15s.

Mr C,
Beautiful Wagon....just beautiful. It's actually artwork compared to the styles of the last 25 years. I'd pay money to see the looks on the Millennials faces as you take up four parking spaces at the Walmart! "Excuse me, pardon me, make way...., sorry." Although, somehow, I don't imagine that car has seen a Walmart parking lot in many, many years. Nice job, good for you!
Also, I value what I have learned in following this entire conversation. I too had been pondering 14 & 15 X 7's for my '68 and '70 Furys. I now realize that would be an effort in futility, especially if I am going to keep everything dressed in whitewalls. I thank everyone for their contribution to my little brain!
Well, back to the Eggnog... -Not Right

I hope you bring the T&C to Carlisle one of these years. What a beautiful wagon!

These are some 15x7 truck wheels, they have a little deeper trim ring. Trim ring just sitting there, not snapped on.

Here's the two side by side.

Left is the truck ring, right is from the std 15x6 road wheel.

1/2" difference in height, inner (bottom) dimension is just a bit smaller but didn't measure the diff.

Are you thinking that the 15x7 truck ring fits the 15x7 Road Wheel?
What truck application is that anyway?

84 D150. Not sure what they're called offhand. I'm thinking that they may well fit the car wheel as well but don't have a rim to check.

Also on the 83's, this is from the 83 Trim/Color selector. RA5 - Another "Road Wheel"
