Hey Pete, Its cool. I believe that that is Mike from "vintage police car owners". He has come to my rescue again. There was this pure *** on his site that was trying to give me grief about the condition and price of my old S.C. Plymouth. He worked up a few more phoneys and Mike came to my rescue without being asked to do so and finally wound up kicking the A H off of the site. I believe Mike is still incensed with the guy. I believe the clone he is talking about belonged to the A H. I really appreciated it , it admit. It's no fun when you go on a site to converse and you can't get a word in for someone who's worked up and making a fool out of himself. When someone works up a few folks on a site to the point that you can't present your wares or your case it takes all of the enjoyment out of things. That's why I favor this site. People are for the most part cordial and willing to discuss things. Just like we discussed different views on the slab of wood in my car's trunk. Thanks again Mike. I am appreciative.

Thanks for the clarification and I also have a piece of wood in my trunk under the Motorola radio system.

So who is it that "can't figure out how many doors it has" Pete? I know your car is an ex-WSP car, but it's a T-code, right? The guy that was selling it claimed it was a "U-code 440 HP" and dolled it up to look like one. Jim's car (the '73) is a real U-code 440 HP car.

Going through about 1500 Posts over here you wouldn't conclude Pete to be a rude person I suppose, so if even the op doesn't feel too offended by one third party singled out post that I'm not even sure if it relates to the op's ad what am I missing ?

That guy's rude and deserves no compliments. His car is a T-code standard 440 that he cloned into a "U-code lookalike" and he tells everyone it's a "440 HP". Sorry, I'd take that '73 any day and restore it and have a REAL car for the same as he paid for his (which, if I recall correctly, was somewhere around $20K).

I don't know who you have me confused with but I purchased my car 20 years ago for $1200 from a man in Washington state. I would have to check the vin but my motor was rebuilt before me purchasing the car. I still have all of the rebuild specifics in an envelope. There is more than one '70 Fury III ex-WSP car out there.

hey pete, i don't think americanpursuit is talking about your car ... my 2 cents anyway. :)

No, I'm referring to the guy that has a '70 WSP car with an orange, incorrectly-painted, non-numbers matching engine...unless that's you Pete. What color is your engine? I was, however, wondering why Pete was being rude to the OP about his car and I didn't understand his statement about the OP not knowing how many doors his own car had. Can you explain this Pete? If you weren't being rude, I'll eat my words. :)

Hey Folks, EVERYBODY! Lets let this thing go. Since I am the source of the problems and contradictions I would really appreciate it if everybody just shifted into neutral on this thing and let it go away. Pete, you and Amazin and Old Man ... helped me to locate and buy Steve's real Washington State Police cruiser and we are both very grateful to you guys for jumping in and helping us out. And I have no idea why Mike needs to criticize you or your cars. Let it go Mike and thanks for everything you have already done for me. I like these guys and this site and they have been most helpful. Everybody else, quit lining up to take sides in this discussion which is turning into an argument. And for the good of all I declare here and now that I too will install a really nicely refinished piece of plywood in the trunk of our first Plymouth just so people can guess why its there.

Oh, and else, I know that most of you eat, live and breath V.I.N. numbers and factory correctness but again, I have one that is correct and one that isn't correct, and I don't give one good damn about it. I intend to post images of both on here as soon as I can get them to rolling and I intend to enjoy them both equally. After all, whatever I buy for the one I buy for the other so my damn clone costs me just as much as the other one with a correct V.I.N. car does.

Thank you, Jim Dent

I tried to figure out all the hubbub... instead I found this
PAHeidelberg7-vi.jpg

The last garage I ran in PA was in Heidelberg... about 1 square mile, 2 cars and enough of rt50 for a very active speed trap... they retired their last AMC, so I didn't get to work on these. A little nostalgic moment...

BTW, wasn't there a car for sale?

So what grounded this car? A blown head gasket?
After a very quick and rudimentary examination it has (at least) one stuck valve and two slightly bent push rods. I hope that that is pretty much the extent of it but we all know that it makes no difference as it's going to have a total do over to satisfy, so I am not overly concerned. Then I started having motor and braking problems with the 460 and had to switch my financial attentions away from the 440. At this time I can financially complete the original two but not all three so this one will either have to sell off to support the other two or simply await its turn. It came with four original steel wheels but the tires were worse than these pictured. The seller took these off of an old Jeep Cherokee just to get it loaded up to come to Kentucky from Georgia. Anyway, I think its a neat old sled.

Had to reread the story of this car, I would love to see progress pics of this.
