Dosent look like a lot but it leaks the same on the other side too. When the engine is running it actually leaks quite good. Idk, i did sealant, gasket, sealant and it still leaks., Look at the trails on the intake I even sanded the surface of the housing with a sandingblock. I cant seem to find a stock one anywhere and i don't have the budget for a billet one either...

I haven't seen a good solid thick casting water outlet for many years now. What is being sold these days by everyone is just a cheap casting, maybe even aluminum, that warps when you tighten the bolts down snugly, not even that tightly, and then immediately leak afterward. Just chinese junk these days, whether chromed or not.

I had a cast one but that was really messed up, thats why i replaced it with the chrome one... Didnt leak at first but now needs replacing i guess. Are there any better thicker gaskets for the housing available maybe?

I did see what looked like an older style thick iron cast water neck for a Chevy on one site, although the neck appeared longer than a mopar one. Otherwise it looked identical and with the hose on, who would know - was thinking of trying that one out if I can find it again..............

Did you remove the chrome first on the gasket side?

I did now, when i resealed it. I did not when I installed that 3 years ago....

Anyone have experience with the right stuff from permatex? Should i have used that instead of the red rtv?

Those are known to corrode from the coolent, throw it away ASAP. I will look for a stocker for you.

I think it's because he didn't remove the chrome on the bottom side of the flange.
I seen that cause leaks 10x more than warping.

The chrome blisters away on the bottom causing corrosion to the aluminum causing chasing ur A$$ leaking, throw it away, get a stock, or that pretty billet one above......................

I had 2 of them in the past, I did the same, Wanted that CHROME! Well after I tried both times to save them sand grind, whatever, I did a simple swap back to a stock one, and problem solved. Let me know how you make out.

I had similar issues with mine sealing. took a file to the intake and bottom of housing making sure all was smooth. found lots of pitting on intake. used a fine layer of j b weld on intake surface. refiled and then a new gasket with a very thin film of silicone . never leaked again. do not overtighten the housing whether its steel or aluminum. no need to. there is very little pressure present.

Thanks everyone. I ordered the billet from 440source. Gonna clean up the surface on the intake too and then put it back together with
permatex "the right stuff". Sould the bolts be only hand tight or whats the torque on this?

Just got done with the housing. Cleaned up the bolt holes with a tap and the surface on the intake with a flat whetstone. Then used that permatex "the right stuff" and it looks like it is perfectly sealed! Thanks everybody, the chrome thing went into the garbage.
