May need to sell our 71 300

Gotta be a $20,000 car or close to it.

IMHO it will bring 20k$ from several potential buyers in europe and maybe the US.
But I think there will be a couple of parties who would even be willing to pay more.
Simply because of triple black, console and low mileage survivor.

So as I seller I would do an ebay auction with lots of pictures and information. Make it open as an auction to the whole world. Don't limit buyers. Set the reserve at 20k and see what is going to happen. Again lots of pictures as well as a good and trustable description is needed.

This way it will end up with a real enthusiast and not a flipper

Not losing storage, just having to take care of my mother down in Florida. We are trying to keep her in her house with her health issues. Thanks for your response.

I understand - my mother is 87 and has had a few issues - fortunately they've all gotten worked out so far. I sincerely hope that your mother's health issues are short and that her life returns to normal and she can continue to live in her home. Best of luck to you in all of that.

Love your car!
My two cents:
I think many of us appreciate this car for the intrinsic value (we hold individually).

From the business prospective, you could sell to the highest bidder (via auction). That would create a level playing field for those of us who are drooling over this car. Then you have a financial solution for your situation.

From the sentimental side, I think it would be a very emotional transaction to complete. This vehicle is like a member of the family. How does one decide the best outcome (home). But that would allow you to have some control of the car's destiny.

I truly hope everything works out as it should for your family with your mother Hank. One thing’s for sure though, selling the 300 won’t be a problem if that’s what you have to do.

Is that original vinylroof? Because rear vinyl corner trim looks "weird"? In picture it shows it goes "straight" when least -69 and -70 has V like corner trim peace.

But that 300 is a 2d ht.... Factory mistake? 1 of none :)

Good catch - I completely missed that. Must be a dealer installed vinyl top would be my guess. The initial buyer told the dealer to deliver the car with the Ansen wheels and maybe the buyer also told him he wanted a vinyl top when it was a low option basic car except for the buckets/console sitting on his lot?

Not unusual to have dealers install a vinyl top back then. There was a dealer here that used to spray them on, even gluing fake seams on the top.

My '70 Fury had a dealer-installed top, and i'll bet it came from Mopar stock; correct grain and all. The giveaway was the molding that didn't have the exact factory profile, nor could they replicate the sharp corner in one piece... they used two, but the gap was so perfect you couldn't tell without being told to look for it.

The TX9 code for the lower body color shows up on the second to last line, and the TX9 above it denotes that the roof was a black painted roof as well, i.e. it came from the factory without a vinyl roof. If the car had a black vinyl roof from the factory, the code above the TX9 would have been V1X, not another TX9.

Interesting... there is another 3x black, slick-top '71 300 bucket-seat coupe around here locally. Has a fantastic black paint job, 17" rims and a tasteful pinstripe; otherwise stock.

Just one other note to add from the body code plate, this black low mileage one also has the factory am/fm stereo radio with the 3 speaker dash and rear speakers. So it isn't as low optioned as I first thought.

Great story. Sorry for the loss of your friend and sorry for your mom.

Please let us know if you decide to sell the car and where the listing is posted.

As far as what to ask for it, sadly ebay is really the best way to determine a car's value. It will sell for what the market is willing to pay. They don't take as big a cut as a large auction house would.

Best wishes,
Ken
