Thank You

Match the color and then add the "flattening agent" to it. Might need to do some test swatches to get the "flat/satin" texture correct.

Color Chip Selection

You'll have to get the number from the rear view of the paint chart. I think it's 43721.

You should also be able to find the correct paint number in your FSM.

Yes I did I put that in my response to the people who answered my post figuring if someone else finds themselves in the same predicament they do have every color in stock. Never used there product before but some friends have and were happy with results. Nice people on the phone very helpful. I'll keep my fingers crossed. good luck with your project I am doing it this weekend if interested I will let you know how it comes out. Frank

Is it going to have the correct "flatness" or lack of gloss that the original had?

From what I saw on Herb's site, they have some generic "fits all" paint of unknown gloss. Are they offering something else besides what is on the web?

hmmm. okay lol Big_John got it!

In all seriousness, i gotta find some of that "maroon flat metallic" for various things on my interior too, keep us updated on how the paint works out for you!

Look on the site that I linked above. I just bought some custom mixed enamel for my Barracuda interior. Plug in the paint code from the paint chart and then order the hardener and some reducer. A cheap Harbor Fright spray or a Pre-Val sprayer and you're all set.

.Paint is flat if you want it shinier use satin. They were very helpful and knowledgeable. Body shop tried a half a can they had it matched perfect. I did not tell people to use or buy it. Whoa... Wait a minute here...

I'm not trying to give you a hard time at all. Please don't interpret my questioning as anything but wanting to find out what is available.

I did more than tell you to look at a paint chart. I gave you a good, solid, resource that I have used myself to obtain the paint you need in the correct color and gloss. TCP Global has the ability to match factory paint. I even went as far as finding the correct page so that I knew I was giving you a good source. All you had to do was plug in the numbers and get your credit card out.

I was also thinking that you were looking for this paint so you could paint the dash yourself as most good body shops should be able to source your paint without issue. What you did with that information is totally up to you. I have no reason to want you to buy from them and if it gave you some direction that let you source it somewhere else that was more convenient to you, that's great.

As far as my "buddy", I assume you mean @Knebel . There's no inside joke here. I never said anything funny or derogatory to you or about you. I knew that you told everyone that you got your paint at Herb's and left it at that.

If Herb's has other products and they are better, cheaper or more readily available, then a lot of us would love to know that... The more info the better. In fact, the first thing I did was to look at Herb's parts website ( Herb's Parts - Mopar Restoration and Performance ) to see what they had. There is a personal reason besides just wanting more knowledge. If I can paint the top of the dash in my '65 Barracuda with an $18 can of spray paint rather than a custom mixed quart of paint, I want to know. I didn't see anything that came close to what you wanted based on their website though. If it takes a call to them to get the correct paint, that's good for all of us to know.

I have gone out of my way to try to help people on this forum. I'm not right all the time, but I'm not wrong all the time either. I expect nothing in return and smile a lot when someone helps me or better yet, I learn something from them. I've met quite a few people here in person and even made some friends.

Frank, I know nothing about you other than you live in the same state that I do. I think you live on Long Island and that's as far as it gets. I would never think that you are an "a..hole" and I would never try to make you look like a jerk.

If you feel that I have insulted you or even insulted your car, I very humbly apologize. It was not my intent.

Big John
