What transmission would be in a 1965 383 Newport 3-speed manual transmission car? Is it the same one used in later B and E bodies?

I do not know. But, I had the A-230 in my '70 Challenger. Is an excellent transmission, designed for use in V8 applications. Supposedly bullet-proof!

If you are asking because you have one and don't know what it is, there should be an ident plate on the transmission somewhere to tell you; I don't remember where. I know I had a Transmission guy argue with me about the A-230; he said I didn't have that in a /6 car, even though I told him that's what the plate said. When he looked at the transmission he admitted he was wrong.

Assuming it's original, in 65 I think it would be an A745. However, the B/RB ones had different ratios. 3.02/1.76/1.00/3.95R for the V8 & HD 6 applications and 2.55/1.49/1.00/3.34R for Big Blocks.

Saw one of these for sale not long ago. Saved the pics, but can't find the ad.

A-745 was used in the '65 Chrysler (C Bodies) and was the only 3 speed offered. The A-250 did not enter Mopars until 1970.
