Dad called me at work to come get the landscape blocks he put aside for me after re-doing his front yard. (I have a small project in mind.) My commute takes me right past his house, but I really don't want to drive my '73 3/4 ton and its 4:10 axle all the way to work and back. Plus I keep forgetting.

Then I remembered that back in the 70s/80s, people used their cars for all kinds of truck-stuff before sedans got so wimpy and useless. Prepare to be horrified.

It's good to see people use their cars for more than just transportation. They used to haul boats with cars, even when I was a kid in the early 80's. I've hauled more in a '91 Daytona than I ever imagined, even a 440 short block.

I hate bottoming out the springs on anything... not that I haven't done it, I just hate it. @Carmine , since you don't want to use that P/U... maybe someday I can take her off your hands  ?

I'v once filled the trunk , rear seat and passenger seat of my 83 Mirada with shingle bundles. Then put my daughter on top of the shingle bundles. ... that was my pre truck days

Huh... I expected a turn on the internet spanking machine, not a bunch of likes, lol.

Power wise I didn't notice anything, however the lightness in the front end was quite apparent. Whatever, was only about 8 miles on top streets. This has been an all-carburetor week in my household. The FI cars haven't budged.

There were some other time-constraint logistics involved that also ruled out the truck. Believe me, it saw action this week, even if it was just returning my tenants weed-wacker after fixing it and not wanting that nasty thing in my trunk.

I can beat all you guys... I took the trunk lid off my well worn SFGT and dumped a fully dressed 440 engine in it.... More than once. That was in my days before having a truck.

Used to do engine blocks in it all the time.

I bought a disassembled engine (225 Slant 6) a few years back, block, head, everything went in the boot (trunk) of my old Aussie Fairlane, not sure I could even lift that block by myself now...

Is that an Imperial under the cover?

Best I’ve done is a complete 440, full of fluids in the back of a 2 wheel drive, 2 door Cherokee. Made the jeep handle great in the snow! lol we rode on the bumpstops all the way to FL, from MI. took me 2 full days to get the cargo area clean again....

My truck was down and out at the time.
