Hello y'all. I'm slowly bringing my pop's 1970 Dodge Monaco back to life. We've basically maintained it to keep running, but my last mechanic recommended I get a new fuel tank, sender, etc. Otherwise the corroded parts on the tank find their way back into the motor (I originally had 2 filters to prevent that, but not without having more air than I wanted to being pushed through). I'm looking for the best price, everywhere else I am finding lower prices for A & E bodies, but never for the C bodies......hence I am now asking you all for some direction. Thank you in advance.

has the replacement tanks.

You may have to access the two links below from the classic auto site, or google 1970 dodge Monaco fuel tank/sending unit and the link will come up. For some reason these links work with google, but not form fcbo.

Check out Rockauto.com.
The fuel tank is listed. The sending unit is the same as a 1967 New Yorker as per the listing for the New Yorker. You just need to know how many vents your tank has.

Price checking many sources IS very important! What might be $285.00 on one website can be $425.00 on another one, for the SAME item. Look for free shipping, too. For the past few years, the low price has usually hovered in the $285.00 area. Whether it's from RockAuto or an eBay vendor, the tank's manufacturer is usually the same. Free shipping can be important due to the combined length and width of the tank and how that relates to "bulky item" shipping charges.

There is an excellent thread in here on replacing a C-body fuel tank. Started out to be just a tank, but ended up being new straps, strap insulators, tank unit, fuel lines, etc. Don't forget the ground strap that goes on the short rubber fuel line that attaches to the sending unit!

As mentioned, match the number of vent nipples on your current tank and order accordingly.

I would think that as long as the resistor on the sending unit is good, you could clean the rest of the metal parts of the sender to de-rust them and re-use the sender. There's another thread in here about an add-on "adapter" to use to get the replacement (not Chrysler NOS parts) sending units to send the correct signal to the gauge for correct fuel level indication. I think YearONE has a rebuilding service for tank sending units?

Thank you :) Yeah I will need to look under there to check the vents.

Hi Dave, ty for the info. I have seen this site before but didn't know you have to be "specific" on the search. Tried both links and to no avail. Well try again tomorrow after service to play with the urls.

A working link will come up if you google '70 Monaco fuel tank or sending unit.
