Ideally stay 4-6 months, park an RV on it and leave it, and maybe a valueless but good running car and a small (17') boat.
For now for summers we want to hang onto our camp in northern VT (what they call a cottage here), and our small rancher near our son in Central NY as a base (real estate is cheap here, but taxes aren't) Long term we'll probably have to get rid of one of them, by time we get mid-late 70s (we're near 70). So we don't want a house to maintain or worry about when we're not in FL. I have a sister in WinterHaven/Orlando, and SWMBO has a sister on Tierra Verde key (St. Pete). We don't want to be in either of those, too crowded, plus WH kind of sucks. RV seems good: minimum fees, taxes, limited potential for storm damage. We're hoping something like that is available. I get too damn depressed and sluggish in these cold gray winters, gotta get out.
