OK you truckers...

I love it but they are trying to ruin it, have been for years.
Yeah, I have a friend that owns a trucking company. He texted some rambled up crap about freight going to 4 bucks a mile and how everything is going down the drain, a few days ago.

He is almost the same age as 70Bigblockdodge & has been doing it since he was about 20. He did quit once & worked driving for Butternut Bread. It was a pretty good job with benefits, but quit within a year to go back to otr.
Similar story here. Started driving a couple years after I got out of the Navy. Lasted a few years as a company driver. In 2008 when economy went in the toilet, truck broke, and I ended up back as company man. Doing similar job to what Stan did, I lasted about a month, LOL.
Once it gets in your blood it's hard to get out. I managed to stay off the road since 2000 but I can't not own one.

Ok you truckers.... How?

One of the local trucks in the Ohio River valley. His winter truck is a 379 Pete. This is the summer truck.

This article I read this morning qualifies as :BangHead: Of The Month.
This bullshit fake news needs to be busted wide open right now.

How about the real story?

Truck driver shortage: Here’s how much drivers are paid

"We have specialized drivers that consistently make six figures, year in and year out.”

So that means all of them, according to the media, right? I'd be driving a sweet new Volvo auto unit if that were true.

It's hard finding a driver that
1. Wants to work hard.
2. Is capable of hard work.
3. Has a clean record.
4. I can afford to insure.
Trying to find one to hire now. No shortage of guys applying, we pay excellent, run good looking equipment, and are home everyday. When I explain what is expected in return they bail.

Don't know, real truck drivers don't end up like that.

The real story is there is always a driver shortage. Good jobs are full, or as noted above the applicants are not able to be insured, then we will see if they can do or will work.

We have specialized drivers that have no life outside the truck year in and year out.
The crap companies all boast about their pay packages that have bonuses that are difficult if not impossible to achieve. The money they make off your MPG, and safety record is way more than they are giving you.

That stupid e-log (which you can see from Bill's post is not fixing stupid) is forcing rates up, hopefully a trend will start to form to consistently charge detention time to the companies that waste my time like it is free.

We have company drivers that do 6 figures but they don't pull trailers that have doors and 50,000 miles would be a huge year.
