Graham: What's your take on the Hellcat Redeye.

I may be a bit biased, but I'm digging the scoops on the Redeye.

The engine management computer can, blip the throttle, dump the clutch, blip the throttle again, then shift the trans and then hit the throttle again in a millisecond. I know I'd never be able to do that.

Oh boy all this talk about sexy 8 & 10 speeds with auto blip got me hankering for a lap of the "Green Hell".

7:29.60 vs 7:16.04, your choice.

That car must've been a blast to drive!

You can NOT! imagine the experience of cruising in that car.
Unfortunately all the owners AFTER me never "got it".
They were fooling themselves it was an GTX on the cheap.

My own fault, though.

Stan, you're right, I couldn't image it. You did, and then you built one bad *** car.
Too bad the New Yorker fell into the hands of people that thought it was a 1/4 mile racer and ruined its stylish looks.
They ruined a car that you built and turned into an iconic symbol on this board and other forums for people like me that followed the rise, and unfortunate fall of your masterpiece.
You had to enjoy the time you had with it when out cruising, having full command the road when going up or down through the gears, testing its limits.
The youtube video probably just scratches the surface of what this car was like when you owned it.

Totally got your point, hence why I bought the 6 spd manual SRT8 about 10 years ago. But it does not change my point about the automatics.

Like it or not, technology moves forward, adaptation equals survival. Resistance equals obsolescence, and ultimately extinction. Man himself is not exempt.

My issue with automatics if their life expectancy. In days past it was how long would the disc packs last before a rebuild. Today it is how long will the electronic servos/relays and computer control last. How long before those electronics are discontinued by manufacturers rendering the car inoperable even if the engine is fine. I'll take having to change a clutch over a daily driver automatic as I know my clutch will go farther than the automatic before that. Since I am not one to change out cars often the life expectancy matters a lot to me.

The A727 was the pinnacle of fully functional simplicity.
Get the kickdown adjusted perfectly and the transmission literally reads your mind via your foot.
7,8,9,and now 10 speeds refusing to do what you want it to do...I absolutely hate them.

You ever heard of a Pedal Commander?

Problem solved. :poke:

My Lincoln has the factory version of that. Selctable modes and all that **** (My car is essentially an overpriced Taurus SHO). It's nice but it's still more ELECTRONICS.
Problem partially solved. :poke::p
 You should just sell the new Lincoln and keep the old one...:D

Sorry guys I am somewhere between Russia and Latvia today. Ill be back in Canukistan around the 24th.

Redeye is being restricted to select Dealers that can prove an actual buyer and have supported the SRT brand in the past.....we are getting 1!

Expect some price gouging from less reputable Dealers but won’t be cheap. Hellcat still best best and I’m with Stan it needs to be a manual...:)
