Failed U joint

Not to worry. I just checked. Apparantly he's still alive.
But damn you Gary, I ran across those deliverance pictures while doing so. I'm ill....

You need to just get off the topic completely. Don't go near key words such as "Beatty", "Ned", "Underwear", "Piggy", "Squeal", "Deliverance", "1972", "Banjo", "Canoe", "Water", "Boating", "Woods", "Trees", ...and so on. All those words will eventually take you towards the most hideous of visions a mortal man can ever imagine.

No, just real......... Jaws is more real than that and I still go in the ocean.

Yes. And I STILL haven't got around to ordering mine.
I looked at the Rock. The $10 - $40 range has me confused.
They're all Chinese I bet and they all have a grease fitting.

I doubt those are anything good

See your local driveline shop or big truck shop, spicer or rockwell/meritor are good

It's already a given.
I'll buy the one of the two and when I drop the shaft, I'll get it balanced, also. And be done with it....

I just read through this thread for the first time..... Lets see.... Broken U-joint racing a Scion.... A Carlisle love fest..... Then to a desturbing scene in the movie Deliverence.... A short on Jaws, (I don't go in the ocean now), and back around to u-joints.....
Very entertaining.....

About the u-joint.... nothing was mentioned at to weather it was a front or rear joint that failed, or if the reason it failed was ever discovered.
Trans tail shaft damage was mentioned so I will assume it was the front joint.
Could be the result of a "to short" drive shaft....? Over 1/2" travel at the slip yoke is excessive and will result in the tail shaft bushing failing which will manifest to a failed front u-joint..........
.........................OR.................. It may have worn out..!

Yeah..... Carlisle......:woohoo:
