I've been doing a little research on the original owner of my 1978 NYB. I did find the one and only title from the original owner. The car came from Wellsville, Pa. The NYB had 41,887 when I bought it. It sat outside and didn't run for almost 30 years. The original owner bought and registered the NYB in Pennsylvania on 3/2/1978. He was a religious philosopher and writer and did a lot of volunteer work at prisons. He also was rolling up and down I-83 and the Penn. Turnpike broadcasting on the am/fm/cb factory radio to truck drivers and whoever would listen to him. The NYB didn't fare well being outdoors for all those years. It took me almost a decade to get all the rust, bodywork paint and vinyl done. The original owner had a black vinyl top put on it it. You couldn't get a black vinyl top on a B3 car from the factory.

The rust was brutal under the vinyl, around the rear window and the rear quarters.

Wow, not many would tackle such a project for an underappreciated body style. Good job, Bob!

Love the obscure reference to Paul Harvey!
Great Job of restoring your Nyb. The rust under the vinyl would have deterred most people.

I've followed you and the NYB from Day 1.
You done good, Bro.

And I want to thank you for early on becoming one of the biggest advocates for these fine Formals.
I'm proud to know ya!

Great job by you. I had no idea it was that extensive of a restoration. Growing up in south western Pennsylvania I saw first hand how badly these cars (and most others) rusted out. I can appreciate the hard work it took you to make it look as good as it does.

Wow, that car is lucky that it found you!

So you had the title in hand so you knew the person's name to begin with? I've always been interested in finding out more of the history of my convertible but keep hitting dead ends. It was a movie car but I contacted the company that provided the vehicles for the film and they didn't want to talk to me. I've got the California black plates off it and tried contacting the California DMV but they wouldn't tell me anything because of privacy laws.

I was lucky....

The lot dealer was the nephew of the original owner. So he had the original title and the info for his Uncle.

Wow Bob! Great story and even better tribute to you and your loving stewardship of that beautiful NYB.

Keep us posted on your new engine.
