So, I pulled the center section out of the 65 polara and out came 2 small pins. I honestly don't know where they go, but one fell out onto my chest
when I pulled the center section and the other was in the housing. They are small pins with a round head, maybe 3/8 inch or so and not threaded.. must be held in by gravity or something. I can't seem to find these parts when I'm looking at rebuild kits. Any ideas?

So I think these actually go in the very center of the diff and the axles would hold them in. I think that there is a pin that goes through the center of these that may have snapped.. Not sure how I'd get them to go back in or if they are supposed to connect in the center of the diff, but that hole appears to be the same diameter as these pins.

Rut-Row, axle shaft thrust spacer came out when you pulled the axles, don't think their suppose to do that.
Think the lock pin is broken.

Thrust spacer. That makes sense. I thought a heard a small clunk when I pulled the axles, and looking more closely at these it does look like the locking pin is snapped. Hopefully this is a part I can buy and install.

Maybe some grease will hold those buttons back in until I put the axles in, but it'll be iffy. It's also going to be hard to put those buttons back in place without disassembly... maybe a magnet tool could be used, but the area is hard to reach.

Magnet is tough, keeps getting stuck to the axle tubes. I used a vacuum cleaner. I taped (lotta tape) a 3' piece of fuel line to the smallest vacuum accessory I had. The vacuum held the head of the pin just fine until I got it inserted, then switch off the vacuum and the pin stays put. 2¢
