when did u last see a 1972 rustfree Imperial ?? Have owned this nice big cruiser for ten years..still have the plastic on the backseat..all original interior in nice cond,,carpet is worn...440 runs really nice, shifts smooth..52700 miles, but assume it has turned, not sure...the chrome is in nice cond, and the body is also nice with a few small dents, the original paint still shines, seems like the right backdoor has been painted one time....more pics can be sent to serious buyer...The car is located close to Portland OR.

I would estimate it hasn't turned over once. That seat material just didn't hold up well, so seeing it looking that pristine suggests it might be a good buy depending on all the other unknowns. Worth a look it seems.

How far is Portland, Oregon from Chicago? It's advertised in Chicago, but sits in Portland?

It will hold up as long as you don't use it.

Seriously, it all depends on the mileage, where it was stored, and how fat the PO was. The fibres become thin from sliding in and out. The brocade is a very heavy material though. Not much you can do. Leather has its issues too.... Dries out, the seams pull apart, cracks develop. You can always get them re-upholstered.
These cars are 45 years old now and have lasted way beyond their life expectancy, it is what it is.

Well, if you're in Chicago and the car is in Portland, when is the last time YOU saw a 1972 rustfree Imperial? And being that it's not a even a 72, can you be sure it's still rustfree?

Seller emailed me back and more pics on the way. Nothing yet. One skirt is missing. But he has 2 skirts back in Norway I believe he has access to.

That seat and material is the same as in my (real) 1972 Imperial 4 door. Mine has been a California car its whole existence and so it has had more sun exposure probably. Mine has some 80K miles on it, but when I got the car about 10 years ago now, the seats were already coming apart due to sliding in and out. If you are not really heavy and careful about how you enter the car, it could last a long time. That one still looks very nice. The autotemp II in my car still works just fine too after I replaced the control servo with the one from Performance Analysis when I got the car 10 years ago.

I don't know how I missed your Imperial. I can't remember what yours looks like...I don't think I've seen any pics since I've been on forum year and a half...is that possible?

some more pics are trickling into me from the seller via email...pays to be patient sometimes.

I don't know how you could have missed it either - maybe because I haven't posted any photos of it? :D

It isn't done yet. It is just a driver right now. It needs some paint, the front seats redone and a new vinyl top. Mechanically it is excellent. It is tan with a tan vinyl top and a gold cloth interior (the latter is like the cloth on the car in this thread, but a brighter gold color). It is the only 4 door passenger car I own besides the wagons. I might well take some time out and clean it up and take some photos in the near future. It deserves that.
