Anyone know the story on these? I bought a 70 New Yorker last year and these black 15x6 wheels were on it the center disc welded inside the rim is solid no gaps, the parts catalog shows 3 15x6 wheels, one is listed as HD, another is listed as EHD and the other has only the size listed, the same part number wheels I also found in my 1972 parts cat. Anyone seen these? sorry no pics thanks

Nothing special. I run across them every so often on 1970 and 71 Chryslers. It's possible they could be the heavy duty rims, or just a different supplier that they used.

I haven't seen them because you posted no pics! Hard to contribute if I can't see what you're talking about.

Just saying...

There is one special solid center wheel, and that's the one that was an option on the 1971 Sport Fury GT. They will be painted silver from the factory.

Imperial rims were solid on the fuselages too...at least they were on my 73.

The wheels are likely “tow package” Heavy Duty wheels. W21? or W16 code? I can’t recall.

They are rare but not very well known. Back in the day, some drag racers and rally racers would use them.

Do you mean a rim like this?

I remember seeing some of the solid-center wheels in about '70. First time we'd seen anything like that! I believe they were on a normal, full wheel cover Chrysler. Just seemed odd, so we didn't worry about it too much. There was nothing special, spec-wise, about the car they were on.

There's no mystery. They are tow package wheels.

Are they not?

What am I missing.....I want to be educated.

Thanks!
