Curious on value of rare car. Need input

What a beauty!, I'd like to know how you found this rare beast.

Have you found your imperial yet? Never had a response from those Facebook forums and am no longer a member of them, this beats them all hands down.
No...

Probably about right if they were rare, you might have to create your own?

Maybe Doc McNeedy can track one down.
Well, there is the Silver/Black one here in Adelaide (I shouldn't have sold it :BangHead:), wonder if the bloke would be willing to part with it now that he's getting a bit long in the tooth...

Hmmm? He may or af least you can say you're a buyer when he wants to sell saves all the asbestos hassles when importing one.
I gave him my number a few years back, never got the phone call though.

On the Polara build I received so much hate and I was only doing what I could at that time to enjoy the car.
You are confusing hate with hazing...
Thank you. I really did feel beat up with the yellow Polara, enough so I haven’t posted anything with the green car. This car though deserves to be represented here. It’s extremely original and I want to get real input BEFORE anything is done.
As a participant in the Yellow Polara thread, I can say that IMO, you were moderately flogged. Mostly that was based on the wheels/tires... and that, it seemed to me, to rise from the confusion that you took a new set of of factory WSW off to make the change... BIG HINT... once the blood is in the water, the feeding frenzy is impossible to control here.

There was at least one statement to the effect of you wanting to make that one more of a hot rod... B Body-ish, which would have been all good, except you triggered the gut reaction in many folks who have watched clean cars turned into poor/non-runners while the hood scoops and stripes took away the survival money to keep them on the road. The reaction was overly harsh.

When you decided to sell, I admit, I wasn't in agreement with your valuation ideas about recouping labor hours... but there are many others here who are far better capitalists than I am. I'm "cantflip" for a reason... on the rare occasions I sell something, I'm more concerned about a fair transaction. I also haven't brought myself to sell a car that was less than 90% "right", which makes used car sales dreams go up in smoke pretty quick.

I like a lot of folks around here who do sell cars regularly... I just don't try to do so myself. You do seem to find very interesting cars, and if you sell them, it's your business. If you had one of my favorites, I would want to see her getting loved and preserved... not hot rodded into a muscle car wannabe. This is why I understand the folks who were the most outraged. I wasn't.

Hang around, you'll pick up the vibe... many of us will even do an "about face" when we see someone modifying a car out of practicality or that we know will finish the job without silly expectations. I'm sure it's all a mystery to watch as a newcomer... we have a lot of double standards, when you don't know the history.

You're not off the hook with me yet... I'm still waiting to see the car (C Body???) you decide to keep as your own

Oh jeeze. I’m not going to change anything! The Polara was different. It was a yellow 72 Polara. I’m not going to mess anything up. Like I said, the Polara was graduate school lol.
Also I did ask a lot of questions while I was working on the Polara, and those were as I went, if not a little late. I was asking questions, though. I do want to get experienced input here. This is a bit of a unique community as well
Entirely different subject matter... and you had attracted the Polara lovers... had you stuck it out with that car, things might have smoothed over after they became convinced you weren't "ruining the car".

The yellow car was a tad unique... the repaint was wrong, but had appeal, and wasn't your doing anyhow. I loved the original interior and hope it never gets damaged for gauges, radios or whatever... the wheel choice made more sense after understanding the condition of the WSW tires.

Bumble bee stripes would have been a tipping point though... :poke:

You had to think about how to phrase that, didn't you?
Yes. Treading on very light vocabulary lol
You know I thought it through

Luck of the draw unbelievably. A friend was picking up this Elder gentleman to take him for lunch and spotted the car. Sent me a text, asked if I liked the car. Crazy how things work. This happened a couple years ago with my 69 Vette Convertible.... 350 4 speed car... sun fire yellow. Funny how good things happen when people KNOW about you being a serious car enthusiast.

Yeah I completely get it. The Polara just wasn’t as good of a car I hoped my new Mopar would be. These older C bodies are much smaller, and a big block manual trans has to be a completely different car from a later fuselage small block auto car.
I like the HATE/ HAZE analogy that’s literally the entire complex problem in a nutshell. Anyways thanks cantflip, I appreciate it

Young fools are eaten for breakfast by the old fools here.
I like how you said young fools AND old “fools”, it’s funny how the internet is.... if we were all at a car show we would be inclined to be kind to one another, but on the interwebz we tend to pick each other apart. I’m the same way on other forums I’ve been a part of a long time. I’m meeting some friends for a casino trip but after I’m going to spend some time with the car. Open it up and give it a bath... I even am bringing my HD camera for you guys

So I don't understand your post at all, are you trying to sell the car? If so you should just put an ad in the for sale section. Are you just looking for more info? You said you were looking for a rough value but why? To sell? Are you just fishing for offers? Found one very similar in LA last year. Factory black car with black California plates and they added max wedge exhaust manifolds. Original 1964 Sport Fury 426 4 speed car. I'm pretty sure you would be disappointed to learn the price they were asking for it. Made an offer on the car and they did not take it...they still have the car. I live in the Seattle area if you want somebody to take a look at it for you.

Why don't you post the fender tag? That would confirm what it actually is. For whatever reason the early B-Bodies have been way down lately. Not sure why, could be many reasons. I believe the biggest reason is that max wedge values have plummeted lately. What the top cars sell for effects the cars below it, like this one. Max Wedge cars are all high compression, low geared and kind of a pain to live with on a daily basis. People want AC now and comfort. A rising tide raises all boats and the opposite is also true.

My post is actually quite straight forward. I was curious on values of these cars. I explained exactly what the car was, without posting the exact Vin or license plates to keep my own privacy. That’s why I asked rough values for the car. At this point it isn’t for sale, but I am willing to explore, especially since I don’t have the disposable type of money to really restore the car to an original condition. I want to share the experience and such with the forums here, and am keeping an open mind to selling the car, without giving up too much information online here and compromising privacy. I was going to post the fender tag, but without being an experienced Mopar person, I wasn’t sure the parts of the tag that would have too much personal info.
In all honesty I would love to share all of it, but when I posted the Polara, as well as some wheels and tires online and on Craigslist for sale, I had a TON of very scary contacts from those posts. Look at this one.... I hope you understand my nerves around this
Feel free to hassle these guys as I am posting their phone numbers

Those are the ends of those conversations. Sorry for the bad language, but I wanted to share this craziness. Notice once I call them out I don’t get anymore responses. Those are the entirety of the conversations, they didn’t respond beyond what I showed with the screenshots

Yep, CL scam, I would've given a F off! right after the first goofy response. Been there done that. "I'll send a driver to pick up your $4.00 worth of parts and write out a check for $1745.00 over th price, just give it to the driver and keep your small amount, no this isn't a scam, I just happen to be that Araibian prince who can't get any money from his mommy and daddy, can you help?"

Yeah. The scams used to be phone calls, offering to help sell said items. Now it’s a bit obvious because their question starts with your exact posting title. I’m ten times more protective of my online adventures than I was 5 years ago. Just makes me a bit nervous. I never blocked out license plate numbers in my ads until the last 6 months. Some I’ll post if it’s just an old whatever worth 5k or less, but anything of certain rarity or value we all need to make sure and protect ourselves and one another, hence why I’m willing to post the phone numbers above of those scammers. If I saw something C body relevant that looked like a scam I 1000% would jump on here and warn everyone.
It cost me 10,000 to unlock my business software and info from some Russian hackers about 7 years ago. They can do pretty much anything. The info was way more valuable than the amount of money they were hostaging all my business software and info history for. Better to just be smart nowadays
