Wagon hard board headliner

Fortunately mine are all decent - however I scored another set from a wagon that was being parted out to have as spares.

The pattern is a print on a very thin paper that is bonded very lightly to the hardboard (which is also paper based), and then they're perforated and bent to shape. No reproductions out there that I have ever seen.

"Restoring" it would be risky at best - as they're very fragile and easy to mark. Therefore it's best to find more sheets and use the best of the lot. The sun visors are the same material in my wagon - they got trashed by a movie company when they taped blackout tape to them - removing the tape just pulled the print layer right off. That and the edges are all soft from years of normal handling, so one of my spare boards will provide replacement sunvisors at some point.

How much do you have to restore? My headliner and visors are also pretty nice except for a small hole in the wayback. If you need any reference photos let me know.

Thanks for your replies! The front half is in good enough shape to leave as is. The back half is sagging a bit. The front bows are fine, one of the back bows is broken, hence the sagging. I’ve read about some conversion headliners, obviously not using hardboard. Has anyone checked those out? I probably will just bandaid the rear as best I can and keep the originality there.

ally found a manufacture for the pressboard headliners for my wagon. After a long afternoon with google I found a reference to a company called R.E.M in Annville, PA, they manufacture restoration parts for various cars. I emailed them to inquire about the pressboard headliners they have for other vehicles to see if I could buy a sheet. Mike Miller responded to my request and said if I sent him a template he would cut them to fit. They showed up today and look great. I will post an update as soon as I get a chance to get them installed and report on fit (and my template making skills). The holes for the visor mounts and dome light are nice clean cuts. Here are the finished sections and a sample of the material. Hope this helps others replace this elusive part.

Thought there was something, I searched using Wagon headliner. Hope this helps, most I've seen in the C body repositoris are toast, good luck

Jeff sent me this link for switching over to a cloth headliner in my 1969 Chrysler Town & Country wagon not too long ago. You might want to call them to see if they can furnish something for your 1967 version of the wagon:

Newstalgia Parts - 1969 Chrysler Town and Country Headliner Conversion

I haven't tried them yet, but will before the end of the year, as that wagon is getting well along in its refurbishing. I am not restoring it completely because it only has 34K miles on it. But I will never keep a perforated hardboard headliner in mine just because they just do not last, and no one will ever notice except for a very few individuals. Chrysler should be ashamed for ever using them IMO. Pressed cardboard should not be used in the interior where occupants can see or touch them because it just won't last under humid or hot conditions very long.

I bought one of the new headliners from Newstalgia. It's nicely made, I have yet to get it installed. But they are of decent quality and a decent price.

Is your vehicle for the intended installation a 1969 Town & Country or something else?

Thanks Markus! I plan to give them a call to discuss installation. I have a 1967 wagon and am not sure how the new headliner would attach. Mine doesn’t have the serrated edge for the fabric to grab.

I have a complete headliner out of a 67 T & C that I pulled out of a parts car 8-10 years ago. When I took it out it was good except for a couple of extra holes in the front section. I will dig it out of my storage area and see if it might have the sections you need. As brittle as they can be shipping will be dangerous.
