A perfect example would be from a 68 Polara DL .
After extensive body work in my trunk area,(insert joke here) I am struggling with how the wire harness is supposed to be routed and secured on the trunk filler panel (if that is the right term). My wire retainer straps were gone or rusted away, so my old pictures do not help much. For some reason I missed those pictures 10 years ago.
I would like to see your original wire routing to your brake lights, tail lights and license plate light along with the retainers.
I would accept '68 Fury and Chrysler pictures, but if I recall they are a little different than the Polara.
Thank you
Marty

Holy BALLS that’s the last time I complain about the cheese in my trunk floor. Nice work there, man!
I’ll grab a shot of my 67 Monaco 500 when I get home but mine comes out along the driver side upper fender (specifically under the deck portion of the fender) then down and across under the light area... I have (or had) an internal trunk light though so it may be different of your didn’t?

Mine does come out over the drivers rear fender and have a trunk light. I even have the wire retainer straps along the left rear fender. See picture. What is in question is where the wires turn the corner from the left rear fender and across the tail panel.
Thanks

I'll have a look and grab a photo as soon as I get home. Pretty sure they run down the inside of the fender extension to the floor then turn over across the bottom of the tail panel but I'll double check.

The cheese is what happens when you leave a burlap bag with a log chain in it and no key lock in the trunk hole sitting outside for 20 years.

Mine just happened because the window seal started leaking and one of the owners decided to goop it up with silicon then it was parked under a cover HALF under a carport on dirt for many years. I've not dug all the way in yet but I reckon that every "not so bad" about my trunk will be "pretty frikkin bad" about my rear window channel.

Are you asking for factory installed location or for a practical long term routing of the harness that will never be attacked by weather conditions?

Boy was I wrong. But that’s my 67 anyway... all runs around the trunk floor where it’s most vulnerable!

As factory as possible and then I may make improvements. But wanted to start with the factory way first. Thank you

Thanks @GJS . That was exactly what I was looking for, and looks in line with where I need to go. Except I have the addition of the side marker lights in '68. I am also not 100% sure of the license light. It must be the same, but it for some reason on mine it also comes out the bottom of the tail light panel which means it should have two grommets on the license plate light. If it is possible to snap an outside license plate light wire routing that would be great. Thank you for the assistance.

This is Marty - it needs to be as it left the factory only better....... :poke:

Mike has me pegged. It is a bad habit of mine, for better or worse. I just have to know how things work or how they were done. I would love to see a factory assembly video from start to finish, including all of the sub assemblies.

The original feed would likely go from the left upper trunk area on the top of the 1/4 panel then drops down to the left tail light then exits out the left tail light area and across the rear of the trunk with assorted plugs for reverse I& license plate light connectors then over to the right light assembly
There would be tabs that bend to keep the harness from drooping as it’s strung across the back but most have likely rotted off if exposed to the salty elements

Not a problem. From my memory of my 68, the driver side dropped off right at where the rest of the harness turned for the tail lights as the passenger side just continued beyond the furthest tail light. Probably have a 35mm photo of that somewhere .. I could pop it in an envelope.. give it to the “postman”...

Plate light wire just goes through a little grommet almost at the center of the tail panel on mine, BTW

Looks like the ‘68 tail panel is a little different than the ‘67.
I am going to hold of on the straps until I see som ‘68 pictures. I did mark where they could be based on GJS pictures of his ‘67. Side routing is the same. But a couple of differences on the tail.

I'll attach a picture of the routing of the side marker light on my 68 Monaco 500. I'm not sure how much use it will be though. The harness was spliced and re-taped years ago to accommodate trailer wiring. This changed the shape and position of the wiring
