What a beautiful car! It looks like it is very nice and I hope you get lots of opportunities to get it out and enjoy it. Thanks for sharing the pictures. As I mentioned in my earlier post my parents bought one new and it was the car I learned to drive in, so I will always have a soft spot in my heart for these.

I've always considered the '67 and '68 Furys "interchangeable" of sorts. If I was looking for a specific year, it would be the '68, though. The '67s just seemed a bit "plain" in many aspects. Or was it the "Barracuda" 14" wheel covers? The '68s just seemed "improved" cosmetically, to me. Not to forget the rub-off of Road Runner, with 906 heads on all V-8s (1.74" exhaust valves) and the 4bbl 256/260 cam in the 383 2bbl.
I'd consider the '65 & '66 Furys to be "interchangeable" too. But the '66s had the improved rear axle shafts, driveshafts, and nicer interior trim. Although the '65s had the "A" 318, rather than the "LA" 318, which with a 727, gave it a bullet-proof orientation in the powertrain department, to me. Our service station guy had several '65 Fury IIIs and they never quit.
In the Chrysler area, same relationship with the '67s and '68s. My favorite was the '68 300, but '67 Newports and New Yorkers looked better to me than their '68 versions.
For Dodges, although we didn't have a strong Dodge dealer in town, the '67 and '68 Polaras/Monacos fit nicely between the Plymouths and Chryslers. More elaborate bright-work and a more aggressive styling orientation. What I'd call "spiffy" and "sporty", depending upon which model and engine combination. Similar to Pontiac in that orientation.
As to ultimate sales figures and why they happened that way, you'd have to look at the advertising of each year and such. Plymouth, being the lower-priced car, would be the volume sales leader, as it should be.
In the used car marketplace, back then, Chevy had the best resale value, closely followed by Ford. Plymouth as definitely 3rd . . . during the first 3 years of ownership. By the 5th year, Plymouth had the highest resale and Chevy/Ford were a decent amount lower. Proof of Chrysler Corp cars' better long-term durability, to me. CAR LIFE magazine did an article on the resale value situation, along about 1967 or so.
