I have a feeling this one's going to draw some comments...

68 Chrysler 300

I have a 1968 Chrysler 300 for sale or trade. It needs some tlc but it is an all original car. It has a 440 motor with dual Holley 450 carbs. It has a new ignition, distributor and new plugs and wires. The underneath is clean and it is a rust free car. I don't have the time that's needed to get this car show ready. The only car I would be interested in is a mustang gt of similar value.

STOP CUTTING HOLES IN STUFF...
Or at least spare the original hood. If you're going to paint it black anyway, grab a different hood and have at.
Damnit, I'd be really into that if not for those mods.

Not mine.

No A/C. . .

I know a guy near Philly that probably has some spare hoods. He should be willing to sell one if he still has them. He was trying to sell them as a package with a '68 300 convertible, and I saw that the car is back up on Craigslist again.

Seriously!!!! You do that to THIS car??? He’s and idiot.. agreed!! Find another hood, not OE one..

You know - I was really enjoying this one. I was excited to see the engine bay. Until i saw the hole in the hood

I wonder if that motor is built or not. Could be a good piece if built right.

The worst part is the single headrest. I realize it was an option and I hate it aesthetically, both or none and I prefer none.

Sucks that it is where it is. With the money I've been working on getting together for the suspension on the Monaco, I could likely take this home if the stupid high rise and hole in the hood were the only issues. I just really don't want to bomb out to Buffalo to find out it was a piece of crap.

Get some under side photos to be sure, maybe a video of the engine running

I just emailed the dude. Screw it, right? Whats the worst that can happen, I wind up driving it back from Buffalo with a hole in the hood? I bet I'd get lots of thumbs up wherever I went.

:thankyou:

Lordy, glordy.Do it the right way and have someone fabricate a hood out of fiberglass. You could also find a donor hood from a picked apart car.Love concave coupes.Very pretty.Brougham

Well, I’m not getting the warm n fuzzies on this girl. I wrote Friday with a few questions and requests and the guy got back on Sunday say he’d been busy all weekend, that he had no other photos and that he knew very little about the car as he only owned it a short time... that it “wasn’t a show car but that it wouldn’t take much to get it there.”

Anyway, that’s really not enough info for me to risk a 12 hour drive and the gent seems pretty far south of forthcoming.

You in the market for another slab mate? It’s a shame this one sounds like it’s probably been passed around the block a few times. And likely will continue to do so.

I'm actually not "in the market" per/se. I'm presently putting funds together to get my 67 some much needed love and the amount was such that if the right one came along I may be swayed to save another, more drivable C body and put off the work on mine.

I didn't think this would be the one. Generally, I mistrust a car that's had this sort of work done to it lest I know the person who did it (or had it done) really well. Too many folks slap a high rise 2/4bbl intake on an engine and can't figure out why it runs like crap ... then beat the hell out of it regardless. Between the tints, the hole in the hood and the stated engine mods, I have a feeling that's where this poor girl is at.

Like I said, if the present owner had any clue, I'd be inclined to make the trip as it is technically in my price range and it's a 68 300 which is on my list.... as it stands, I'll wait for my funds to be such that I can buy a shine and drive. I've got enough work to do on Beverly and at least I know what I'm getting into there.
