1970 Dodge Polara Convertible in Auction

I couldnt resist . The description of this car and the photos made it sound like another Adleen . A 2nd PA car by an older fellow that had been garage kept its entire life? I gotta see this ! So My wife and I left early this morning with the truck, trailer and 120 one hundred bills . My intentions were to buy this car and bring her home. After that? I wasnt sure .
We arrived at Bath PA at the site of the auction and the car sat out front . I needed to get there early so I could go all over the car and not play my hand . The auction sat in the teens all week before jumping to $4600.00 on Friday ....You're kidding?

Myself, Wyatt and Ayilar were watching this car and the Orange car on e bay . This car appeared to be nicer ( I still think it is) . Once I arrived I looked over the car I became more and more disappointed . The more I looked the more depressing it became . The listing for this car implied that it was amazing, it wasnt . I made the decision that if the bidding went over $5000.00 I was out . Some time had passed and about an hour before the auction Michel(Ayliar) and I spoke, he had some interest but wanted to see pictures . I am certain he was disappointed as well.
Immediately as the auction started there was an internet bidder of ten grand . :(:( No one else bid on the car and like that it was over . I presume the car is going overseas, or to Colorado . Either way the internet bidder is into the car with fee's for approximately $11,800. Then shipping will need to be arranged . Someone will be very disappointed with this car once it comes off of transport ( waiting for pictures to upload from my phone because dummy me forgot his camera).

383 Sounded great and idled smooth as 383-2s do .
The engine is covered with oil residue .
Rust starting in both quarters, not bad but its already there .
Original top is there but a couple of ups and downs and thats gone .
Date coded boot is still there but dry rotted and brittle, missing clips .
Tires are good ...
Leaf springs are on a reverse arch , badly .
I believe the whole car has been repainted at least once .
The right fender above the body side molding is in a state of orange peel .
Good dash pad and interior panels ....
Trunk pan is starting to rust but nothing through and still very solid .
All the body side moldings have discolored and the vinyl is loose on some .
Trailer hitch bolted through the frame and trunk floor . ( Ad shows rear bumper)

Someone got a nice driver to cruise in while fixing it up. I think they over paid and Im glad I thought with a clear head . I got to document another of the 842.

Why is thd order number have a T at the beginning? Anyone know what that means?

That has to be the longest post I have ever seen you write! You were serious.

I wish it had been a little nicer for you but I also agree that given the issues you found, probably best to let it go for someone who seeks very original cars and who is as pedantic as you are, and I agree it wasn't worth $10K either given the issues and the lack of options and the color. Something better will come along I believe that will be even more desirable that will be more of what you like.
