As I'm researching parts for a build ,Summit and other parts suppliers list parts like camshafts for 1968 and up ,is there a difference in a 67-68 block? the same with rebuild kits .
Do I need to change my pushrods if I install a new camshaft and lifters ? what about the rockers

I think the main thing is combustion chamber volume and compression height of piston.

The lifters and push rods are different in a '67 and earlier big block Mopar. Unless you buy '67 and earlier type lifters, you will have to change the push rods.

Early push rod.

The heads are different - small exhaust valves compared to the 906 and later heads. Also a difference with open vs. closed combustion chambers as alluded to above.

And this is why the pistons are different. The pistons on the '67 are lower in the cylinder because of less chamber volume.

IIRC, the HP '67 heads will have the larger valves, but the rest of the earlier heads have the smaller valves. (edit: HP '67 440 Heads only)

In '67 only the 440 engines had the larger valves. The 383's used different heads with smaller exhaust valves, same heads as the earlier BB heads.

Yep, you are correct... I forgot we are talking about the 383.

so if i read this correctly, having a 67 myself...I could replace my cam with the 68+ cams if I swap to 68 pushrods as well and everything else will still fit together?
