You cannot be thanked enough for that save, AFAIAC.

I wonder if the former owner wandered in here with grand ideas and got chased off. So many don't understand we are trying to save them (and the car) from themselves.
We have an EST way of doing that, break them down to the core, and build them back up. Gotta be tough enough for the program to work. Many aren't.

So I installed my Chinese electronic ignition set. So far so good, I was able to time the distributor in and get timing that holds.

It started right up. I switched the voltage regulator for one of those nifty ones from Ebay that look exactly like the originals but have the solid state inside

The kit came with a very ugly orange ECU that I think will blend in better after I spray it black.

I had to mount it upside down so the wires can miss the torsion bars for the hood.

The old parts

I think it's the original distributor with a 67 date.

It was running rough last few days but now so smooth so I'm convinced the points needed attention.

I had to switch the alternator out for a square back, dual field unit.

I am having trouble with the non a/c brackets because with lower bolt hole , which was formerly the a/c idler pulley has a broken bolt way into the block.

I drove it around a farm after doing some more tuning ..... holy cow!!! It has a ton of power.

I might just be conditioned with my daily driver slant six car but the 383 in this car has some power and its just waiting for more TLC to unleash more.

I am smiling ear to ear after that ride around the farm.

Still a lot of work needed, but victories like this keep me going because it idles so smooth and just purrs like a Bengal tiger.

Kick *** Rainy! Get that car a rockin'!
The cool thing about this car is now I got a chance to see if feels going down the road with it.

I have pretty good visibility out of it, but I need to stack a few pillows on the seat and I needed my requisite pieces of 2x4 duct taped to the pedals. I have wayyyyyy better visibility out of this car than I ever did with any fusey.

Gotta love a good ol slab side.:)
