I'm sure the center piece is incorrect, but where did it come from? What model or era?

I had to move the car because roofers come tomorrow. Just now noticed it.

One more:

Pretty sure that is a '67 center.

Just a wild guess, but they may have used it on some (early?) '68 builds too.

Here is a shot of the wheel on my 67 Sport Fury and the center disc has white background with a silver colored emblem (not a very good photo)

Mine is an August 1968 build. I found a blue padded one in the trunk. I like this one better, just wonder why it was changed.

My early ‘68 Polara has the Chrome center with the Fratzog symbol. Built August 1967, before some of the crash and emissions standards went into effect at the beginning of ‘68.

I prefer the chrome one over the colored one anyway.

August 1968? Are you sure it's not 1967?

I think they switched to the '69 model year by then.

I have the same one on my 68 Fury. I was told by a few people at Carlisle that it was incorrect and I should have the padded one. But I have been looking; and have seen the same one on a number of 68 cars. I have the padded one on it now, but am starting to second guess if the chrome one was used in 68 also. My car was built April 1968.

The early build '68 Furys used the Chrome 67 Fury steering wheel center. Keep in mind that as of 1/1/1968 Federal law mandated a reduction in glare, resulting in the switch from chrome interior A pillar, windshield trim, steering wheel centers etc. to painted or padded materials. In my experience, the chrome steering wheel centers were used for the first few months of 68 Fury production. My August build yellow 68 Sport Fury in addition to the chrome steering wheel center has chrome seat belt buckles and chrome vent knobs just like a 67.

It has never ceases to amaze me how many know it alls you meet at car shows. My 68 Monaco 500 has the padded center. The one thing it has going for it is that it is easy to remove the padded center with a 1/4 turn. Came in handy when it was time to remove the wheel for refurbishment.

I agree, it is an easy enough thing to change. I keep both with me in the trunk.
I am always amazed how everyone is always an authority on your car. Over the years I have had several cars that was told were incorrect or they never built, until I showed them the build sheet.

Always got amused at the "My buddy had one just like that, but it was a 4-dr". When looking at something like a Barracuda or Challenger that only came in 2drs.

Or, in the later '80s, a guy would come up and talk about the car, then ask "What engine is that?" when looking at an original 426 HEMI car. Or the famous 440 Six-Pak HEMI that a buddy of his used to have.

In the case of the 426 HEMI question, one of our car club members replied "It's a Canadian 318", to which the guy replied "WOW! Never saw one of them before". Us being in TX, that would be a rare car. This was well before we knew that a Canadian 318 really did exist, but without the wwiiiddee valve covers.

Those were the days!

68 first year in Canada for LA 318. In C body. A year after the US got them. Seen plenty of Windsor built 67 dodge & Plymouth C's with the Poly 318.
