My 2018 RAM Longhorn

I can not win!!!

I upgraded my phone and tried to pair it to the Bluetooth in my 2017 300C and it wouldn't pair. I couldn't even delete the old phone pairing. Took it to the Dodge dealer and they did a hard reset and the phone deleted. Still couldn't get the new phone to pair. The service manager said there was something wrong with the new phone and I told him no it wasn't the phone. He said yeah, how did you know? I told him I couldn't pair my girlfriend's phone either. He said let me try something else and took my 300C back in the shop. About 4 hours later he told me that he has to order a new radio. I guess the bluetooth module isnt a separate part of the new radio system. We'll see how this plays out....

My guy can tell me the Canadian production number which was a little over 300 so extrapolate that as 10% of the total production you get approximately 3000 in the US. Still working on an exact number for you Bob. Up here it wasn’t called Southfork for obvious reasons although the option code is the same.

Bump for Graham.

What's upsetting to me is some newbie tech is gonna have to tear into the instrument panel. Pray he puts it all back correctly.

It is amazing how quick the radio comes out on these new vehicles. Barely one minute to get it out.

All the radios are 3rd party support. Chrysler doesn't do anything except pop them in and out. A 3rd party vendor does all the repairs and rebuilds on all Mopar modern radios.

Yup up here it’s Crescent Electronics. We pull the old unit send it to them 3 weeks later it or one like it comes back “refurbished “. What appears to be your radio in the dash is really just a screen with the other components (amp, sat receiver, Nav, Bluetooth module) all located elsewhere.

Bump for Graham.

Sorry Bob my guy can only see the Canadian numbers. There is a way to email FCA for production comparisons like how many Red Pearl Ram 1500’s with ABC 123 options were made. I will try and find it.

I guess they get the data off my radio to order the right replacement unit and they told me 3-5 business days and they will have a replacement radio for me.

I really like my Ram but....

Again I'm sitting at the dealer. Had some weird thing happen with the throttle. Warning light came on and said service throttle. The engine starting racing and then die down to nothing. I was 30 miles from home and the RAM seemed like it was in limp mode. Could get up to 50 mph in about 2 miles on flat ground. It was fun on I-95. I'm almost thinking I should of kept the Titan!

I think this one new feature (Drive by wire), stinks. I still do not understand why they got rid of the throttle cable.

In the US, I believe they get shipped to United Radio here in Syracuse.

Did you install the pedal commander? If so, I'm wondering if there is a issue with that.

The service manager thinks it's the throttle body or something in the wiring harness. Just about everything is drive by wire these days.

Bob did I miss you having other issues with your truck? Sorry little distracted lately.

It had 2 or 3 radio's in it because all of the systems tied through the radio didn't work. GPS, radio, compass, bluetooth. Enough of a problem that Ram gave me a 2nd year of SXM for free. I had shifter problems with it another time. And had some other software issues with the engine and body control module another time that they were able to fix.

Yep, truck was $62k and the ricer was better than nothing. I asked for the Hellcat on the showroom floor.

The 19 ram I rented to pound almost 2k miles on, the weekend before the new year... I had a similar-ish experience. Rural NC at dark and some hard corner/stop/go maneuvers (not anything too sporty, just harder than normal), I had several seconds of an idiot light that could have been a throttle body symbol and next to no throttle response.

It only happened the one time, and I was so busy tooling around and visiting folks, I never gave it much thought. I would be getting to the bottom of it were it mine though... I was thinking it might be tied to the auto stop/start too. I'd just gone through a weird hook shaped interchange that I hadn't been fully prepared for... so several pedal actions in a very short time span... and I drive with both feet.

Overall, I liked the truck... and would pay $200 to drive the crap out of another one if the need arose. Too much wet, dark, stupid traffic to want to be in an old car. The 'burb was helping me enjoy the domino theory with the cooling system ever since I replaced the timing chain over Thanksgiving.
