What difference do "spark rings" make?

Supposed to keep spark scatter down between terminals. I get the theory, just personally never had a issue.

Man you DO get some cool stuff! I got my last dizzy cap w brass and spark rings for not much $$ laid out from Rock Auto, but it wasn't the lovely Mopar tan.

Keeps the engine compartment original looking I guess. I just need a working, reliable vehicle in mine and that's what I got. You'll do well on these I'm sure.

I've read that the vents are to let any ionized air out, from the HV activity in there.
I'm not really convinced that any random moisture is going to get trapped in there, and if you get true water intrusion in there the vents are going to let it in more than they'll let it out.
Just my opinion.

I have read that also. Never had that issue either. The vent caps are kind of shaped like a trap on a drain, I am really not positive never had any issue either way except on the slants going through water. More of a sealing issue there.

I think I understand your goal here... but IMO, just run the car with something that works right... looks close is a bonus... unless you intend to start trailering her around, you can get overkill on originality.
