I've been looking casually since last year to get a RAM to pull the Imperials as needed. Wifey said she will get serious and took charge and found this pre-owned (2016) one today at local dealership. Young salesman didn't know what an Imperial was:lol:...But, nice enough to call us if this one doesn't sell tomorrow. Apparently, a noon appointment with a potential buyer. I wanted it...But, will have to be patient...There's other ones on lot...However, all diesels...At least we got the ball rolling...build a relationship with the salesman...maybe get a call if another one rolls in...sounds like this one has a tow package... can handle 12,000 lbs.

Hey Doc if you want the build sheet and service history send me a PM with the last 8 digits of the VIN. I can tell you where it was originally purchased and if there are any red flags.

Thanks... I just realized I posted in the wrong thread category...I should move it to general discussion.

Got a Hemi? If, is it a 6.4l?

I'm pretty sure they are . The option is the Cummins and there is no big C on the fender ..that says HEMI .
The 6.4 is a beast ...

The 6.4L in the HD is designed to be an alternative to the Cummins not the Hellcat. It is configured for maximum torque at low speed to get the load moving much like the Cummins. If you are expecting good off the line acceleration this is not the engine for you. The PowerWagon with the 4:56 gears is a little better on performance but get used to 11MPG real quick. Much like the old V10 argument of the Viper versus the HD...not the same engine with two vastly different expectations.

So the block and crank will be good for building a nitrous or turbo short block out of when these rust buckets start showing up in 5 years because the trucks not worth the airbag replacement.
That might be a new powerplant for my Barracuda when I wear out the 440.
Thanks Graham, there is hope for these 6.4 yet.

My 15 year old Ram 3500 doesn't have a spot of rust on it. 264,000 miles and it's clean as a pin even underneath. You don't suppose being in Arizona has anything to do with it do you?:poke:

Nothing personal on rusty Rams, they all rot at 10 years no matter the brand. Cars, trucks, vans they all have a hole in them somewhere at 10 years been that way as long as I have been alive. Problem is these suckers buy a brand new whatever for 72-84 months and the thing is on the verge of panel rust through by the time you pay it off, what a deal.

My 2011, 2500 Ram living in Manitoba Canada, where we salt the roads continually in the winter, doesn’t show any rust yet.

Check back in 2 years.
You also live where it is damn cold. Oxidation of steel is most active in the 40°F range.
All of you keep buying all kinds of vehicles these companies need that. Buy 2 dozen of the damn things I could care less, I have no use for a really heavy car with a tin box on the back.
I'm sure they are the greatest vehicle ever, guess I'll never get the pleasure, but I will sure as hell gut one of these things for their Hemi to be put in a proper place.
