Another project

Yea, that’s Sabrina’s daily driver. It is quite a nice little car. Key word there though is “little”. Too little for my fat *** crawling around under it lmao.

She had a couple tempting offers on it. It was a thought as my 03 ram is just sitting neglected. Something quite a bit newer, with more creature comfort/what not. But she decided she wants to keep the caravelle going. She seems to really like it.

No rack yet... hubs, trans axles, and a trans service.

I broke an extension, and a breaker bar trying to remove the passenger side caliper braket bolts! Not rusty by no means, idk what their deal was. They came out with a little heat afterwards....

The new hubs are a sealed unit. I think I split the original hub housing trying the remove it. The innerds came out with the body still in the knuckle. I said F this after that. Was able to half *** get it back together, and get it on the trailer lol.

Damn front wheel drive voodoo cars lol. I’ll stick with my easy RWD junk!
Of course she likes the Caravelle... it doesn't need running boards for her to get in and out :poke:

Those wheel bearings are easy to do with a press... you should have called, I'd have given you the excuse to buy more shop equipment...

And you can get a press pretty reasonably new or used right?

Hey I offered to reverse lift it, and swap the tires out with the ones on the 96 bringing it back to stock height. Planning on stealing the tires anyway for the 96.

About a hundred at HF would do the job... might find a good one used for close to that... Then Zac would have even more "friends" coming out of the woodwork to "borrow" his garage.

All sounds well and good. Or we can just pay $200 or so, and not touch it, and deal with it... We’re only paying $40 an hour with her being a dealer employee... lol

I just bought a HF 20 ton for $150 out the door about a month ago.
It's not the $$, It's the space and amount of need for me. I can use one at work, but it's like pulling teeth to get anything in there.

Its a shame you're not closer,, then I could just bug you when I need it...

Just hang onto the parts warranties... they'll all need it again in about 60K or so...

K car maintenance schedule... every 60k
Timing belt
water pump
t stat
belts/hoses
axles/joints
M/mounts
struts/bearing plates
springs
shocks
Vacuum harness
ETC

Tune @ 30k
Brakes and tires as needed
If high quality tires... add to 60K schedule...

Nothing will go to 120k if you think you can skip it @ 60k

We loved K cars... they had a very reliable maintenance schedule...

If I didn't have my uncles in my garage I'd keep an eye on craigslist for a good quality older model but I like vintage stuff especially well made tools

The nice thing with this one for now atleast is 90% of what you mentioned was recently done right before we got it. Car had quite a bit done to it back in ‘15 with very little mileage added to it.

Whatever wasn’t touched has been getting replaced as it goes out this last year. Belts, hoses, and now axles, and hubs. It’s also getting some new front brakes as well.

I gotta give the little car credit. Previous owner had it as a fun toy, that went to shows on the weekends (don’t ask me why...) but it made the transition from beauty queen to daily beater pretty well. I do feel bad sometimes as the car is a little too nice for a beater, but then remember it’s a K car after all lol.

Driveline parts are easy to get, but anything body, and interior is a *****!!

I told Sabrina to drive it till it dies, then I’ll have some fun with it. Maybe we can cram a hot little 360 under the hood somehow. LOL

Too funny, I know what your saying, but I work on them every day so I am used to them. It would be a little to far of a road trip for a weekend to come give you a hand and bust out some FWD car repair.

Welp..... Guess I was talking too good about the truck! She threw up some coolant this morning pulling into work.....

After some inspecting, it seems she’s making a little too much power for the 25 year old head gasket LOL. Was hoping it was just a bad T-stat, but no. The cooling system is getting lots of pressure build up, and pissing it out the overflow tank. Luckily no coolant in the oil, or getting burnt.

Dropped her off with my buddy at his shop. Heads getting removed, and going out for a resurface, along with getting O ringed to support future power adders.

Looks like the dually, and the Monaco will come out to play for a couple weeks!
