This year I have made a few changes to hopefully get into the 11's

First off i purchased and installed an innovative motorsports 02 sensor so i can actually tune the quickfuel SS830 carb I run. This carb has never been jetted or adjusted other than idle mixture and idle speed. It is exactly as it was right out of the box. It is EXTREMELY rich. I welded in the o2 bung and will install and test the air fuel ratio when its a bit warmer outside.

Secondly, i am going to switch from 275/60 15's to 275/50 15's These are a full 2" shorter and should give me some more RPM going thru the traps. Currently i am trapping right at 4700rpm, but my motor pulls hard to 6100-6300 RPM.

If none of that gets me to 11.99 then i have been thinking about a 250 shot of nitrous. I have already purchased the upgraded 3/8" fuel pickup and sending unit which i am going to modify to a full 1/2" pickup tube with return line, although the stock 5/16" fuel line has been fine so far.

I am resistant to the nitrous for various reasons, it is unusable on the street, it will get me kicked out of the local drag strip for no roll cage.

Since i year-round drive the car, and drive it 80+ miles to the track, bolt on the drag radials and make some passes, i did not consider a gear change from the 3:23's i currently run, nor do i want to swap seats out for lighter ones or remove the back seat, or any of that kind of nonsense.

The video link is a test and tune run i made 4 or 5 years ago, no cal tracs, the car spun hard for about 1000 feet finally hooked when i hit 2nd gear.

This is the fastest so far, that old run i posted was slower, i cannot remember the time.

cool.. sleeper!....have you tried a factory dual snorkle stlye air cleaner?? i bet it would run the same.. and look way better..

A Velocity Stack was proven to be the best to cram more air into the engine. You might want to try this just at the track to squeeze a little more out of it. Timing and the distributor advance curve is another area that many don't chase down to maximize engine power. Maybe a set of 90/10 front shocks and disconnect the front sway bar to plant a little more traction at the rear tires, as well as playing around with tire pressures. You are close.

It has a custom 4 seconds flat distributor made for my motor/heads/cam and ignition box. I installed kyb's and it greatly increased handling while keeping the nice ride, the 90/10's i am not sure about ride quality. You can see the transfer on this video running 12.60's and 12.80's

Ah, weight transfer does look pretty good with the kyb's. Distributor sounds like a winner. Another thing that could get you just a little more is to block off the exhaust crossover on the intake ( it looks like your manifold has one?). Then you may want to step up 2 sizes on your carb jets to take advantage of the cooler/denser mixture. Plumbing in one of the aftermarket air/fuel ratio monitors would probably be a good investment in setting your best air/fuel ratios if adjusting the carb or changing jets.

Another trick is to ice down the intake just prior to your run. Get some of those ice packs you freeze up, and then lay them on and all around the intake. Pull them off when ready to run - again, cooler denser air/fuel mixture. Of course cooler running like a night race usually produces a better time as well.

If you want to race track prep for a run, if you have power steering, take off the belt as this saps horsepower. Here are a few more tips that might get you to your 11.99 goal - How can I make "Free" horsepower?
