Cool Video Of Demons Self Destructing

Agreed on all points, I think the use of an Iron case would hold up much better, It probably would only be a 25 pound increase in weight. Time will tell.

I would like to get one of these rear ends on a dyno with slow motion cameras to see if possibly the independent rear suspension is being torqued to the side on launch. The center section would not have to be very far out of line to break the case.

Now that I went and read the article. That guy is trying to make something out of nothing.
Of course stuff is going to break.
Do a burnout in first gear without pulling it down in low (automatic), or with a manual reverse valve body. In a 727/904 with slicks you may just have have transmission parts in your *** by the top of first gear after those shinanigans.
What is the history of the red car?
How many burnouts has this car been subjected to? What kind of fool or fools have been driving it.
The gray car has been modified and it shows as the diff case did not fall out like the stock car.
Also I will take one of these cars breaking at the line and wheel hub alignment is not compromised. Compared to the Yahoo in a C clip car who's axle comes out and the car goes out of control.
@Davea Lux, I would say the gray car sheared the pinon off, 1000hp, stickier tires, God knows how many passes.
The red car is most likely a carrier failure. The carrier deformed or was developing stress cracks from repeated wheel hop and or tire shake by being abused on low or biased traction circumstances. Evidence is the whole case torn open and ring gear teeth pulled off. The carrier takes out the case, if case fails first (rare, barring a huge impact/accident) the carrier and ring gear will pop loose intact.
This is why dedicated drag cars have spools instead of sure grips, lockers, and such.
