71 dodge interior reupolster

@71monacomoparmechanic -- FWIW, I just ordered some headliner and seat cover samples from SMS for two different 1971s -- one that I recently bought, and one I am seriously considering adding to the stable. I ordered the materials at breakfast this morning, and got the info about shipping by the time I was ready for lunch. You may want to also ask them for free samples of your headliner, as they tend to disintegrate over time.

According to the fellow who did work on my car there is also Auto Interiors in Michigan at 586-727-2486. He likes them because he feels they are easier to deal with and are faster than SMS.

I think you mean "Original Auto Interiors" of Michigan. They were the only other competitor of SMS that I have been aware of, and I learned recently that they were bought out by SMS, making SMS really the "only game in town" unfortunately. The phone number you provided was his previous number.

Here is Tom's departing message:

Hello,

After 40 years in the Upholstery Business, I am retiring. Effective January 1, 2018, Original Auto Interiors Inc. will be transferred to Doug Pollock of SMS Auto Fabrics.

Doug has assured me that the same level of customer service you expect and deserve will be maintained. I would like to thank all the loyal automotive trimmers and customers for your patronage and wish you all the best.

You can visit Doug's website at https://smsautofabrics.com/

Sincerely,

Tom Ames

I don’t know how those seats left in that state of condition would increase the value of the car? Get your hands on the material you need & find a good shop. If you find a good local shop, you might be surprised of what they are capable of digging up for you. Especially if it’s guy who’s been around a long time.
