Scenicruisin'..?

you don't actually expect us to read all of that?

Not if you don't want to, scroll on by... I didnt actually mean to write that much, it just seemed like everything wrote raised more question. I just didnt want to come across as a total dreamer with no idea how much he was talking about taking on.

Interesting, seems to me there must be some suitable Canadian buses out there which meet your requirements rather than an American one from say, Arizona

First and most importantly 1973 LeBaron, wow love them cars. If it wasnt for the dogs i'd of totally bought a '73 triple black that was for sale over here for like £5. Stayed on ebay winking at me for months as well.

Two points here, firstly as has been kinda raised, a Canadian bus is very likely to be running the same insulation as an US bound one. They may have additional heating capabilities for the cabin but that would be engine driven or want plugged in. They may also have a block heater, but again this needs plugged in. When taking into account the age of coaches I'm interested in vs the environments I'm taking to pretty much any coach is going to be stripped down and re-insulted.

Secondly I'm really struggling to find what I want when searching right across the us/canada, restricting my catchment area that to just Canada is likely going to restrict me to just the modern prevost I mentioned H3/40. Also given "home" is Calgary/Edmonton, a lot of the US is closer than the other cities in Canada Calgary -> Toronto =2100mls, Montreal =2200mls, Quebec 2300mls, Calgary -> California 1300mls, Phoenix 1600mls. Even when you are going to Toronto google says go across Ndak, Mn and Wn spend more time driving in US !

Plus who doesn't love an epic roadtrip with their new bus...

Oooooooooooohhhhh, hadnt spotted that at all, very interesting. Thank you.

Even if you rplans do not include an immediate purchase, this coach may still be arounnd when you are ready to buy.

Appreciate your stand point, I still feel a bit bad bothering the seller when really i know I've no ability to buy it on a practical level. I'd love think it was still around this time next year, I can't see it hanging about that long but we can hope.

Start a dialogue with the seller... posted or not, this bus in it's current state of repair, and at that price... It's not going to be an easy sale. many of the busses I've noticed over the years have taken forever to sell, and sometimes resurface much later apparently from the same seller.

Most don't have a place to store one, without paying. Few know how to get an inop one moved, and fewer still want to pay for it. If the seller holds to his price, and doesn't do something to make it more roadworthy, this bus may still be around for your time frame.

Better to have a relationship on the chance you'll get it, than assume it'll never happen.

taken today, one week to moving day .... goes to HD truck repair facility to get to move under its own power, then on a trailer to Western New York. more photos to come

ill be there friday and get more pics of the action.

about 25 yrds to to pass. side is a black top driveway. seller is moving it there.

tow guys are backing up to it and dragging it 6 miles to their shop and we'll get the "what fer" on getting her running ... reduces transport cost a bit and we cant be draggin it around back home.

hopefully they can look at it while im there but if not they said theyd film the start up for me.

Whisperer found me a couple good rebuilt newer vintage mills (an 871 and an 892 Detroit) should 871 in it be UN-original/UN-economical to rebuild. he says "R&R" vs rebuild existing as some of of you guys advocated.

conversion to automatic trans .... still debating that. a little pricey but in the budget still.

so mechanicals in 2019-spring 2020. interior fitment in spring/summer 2020. "on the road again" fall 2020. thats the plan anyway.

update in week :)

You've got a plan, and it seems to be coming together nicely...its fun to follow along with your dream in this thread. Hopefully they can get it running while you're present!

I've been along with you all the way on your quest for this Scenic Cruiser. I am thrilled for you! So. . . Carlisle 2021 ?

i cant thank everyone enough, the very active thread participants, and others who decided just to watch it play out, for paying attention to an "old man with a hat" trying to chase a 50 year old dream.

at least we didnt have referee any "fights" in this thread tho i am sure somebody wont like somethng im doing with this coach (e.g. the Alcoas with white letter tires) in next couple years. :)

maybe i'll recruit the Speaker of the House for my "posse" .. that'll get me a few one finger salutes im sure. just kiddin ... anyway i dont think she's a bus-ridin' kinda gal.

Yours is the only project thread where 22's (.5) would be appropriate...

We're all happy you finally found "the one" and with your mechanically competent bus folks, she'll soon be rolling under her own power again.

Fingers crossed for pleasant surprises as she's stripped down, we look forward to your build. I'm sure all will work out fine, as you have the right team to sort out the issues which may arise.
