76,000 KMs is essentially 47,000 miles. Nice car!
I had a 1978 Canadian NY Brougham for a short time.
It was a 26,000 km car that had been sitting in a field for a while because the original owner couldn't get it to run right. Triple white with the Lean Burn system on it and fully loaded with white leather, but strangely had no fender skirts, but did have the rear wheel opening moldings instead. It was deteriorating fast in the field, even had a bullet hole on the passenger side near the rear wheel.
I offered him $250 bux for it. He said OK, but you gotta get it out of here on your own.
I arrived the next day with a buddy, took a look under the hood, saw that a bunch of vacuum hoses were off and/or crapped out, so I hooked them all back up, checked the oil, poured a little gas down it, put a battery in it and hit the starter and she fired right up and ran as smooth as silk. His face sank when that happened, but he lived up to his agreement and I drove the car away.
I replaced the headliner on my own, and had my local mechanic buddy do the front brakes and install an exhaust manifold gasket. Then I waxed her up good, cleaned up the wheel covers and the grill and sold the car shortly thereafter for $2500 after enjoying it for a few weeks. I hadn't bought the 66 T&C yet, and so it wears the plates that are on the wagon now (my first set of plates from my very first car). You can just see the trunk lid of my Turquoise 66 Monaco behind it.
Yup, talk to
@1978 NYB for the fix.
