I brought this back to presentable condition.

Are there any other original paint 300 Hurst owners on the board???

I’m documenting stripes and location of stripes on original cars.

Many thanks!

What's up with the '60 Adventurer?

It's not my car, but we believe it's the Pacific region demo/show car.

It's a very early build, almost every option, loaded, it is exactly as the DeSoto promotional brochure. Original paint and interior. It's a very decent 15 footer. Nice as is driver or restoration candidate. Big block car. The owner is considering selling it.

I'm not original paint, but my stripes are the ones that the 300 Club was selling 20 years ago when the second owner restored the car. I've seen nothing to indicate that my stripes aren't correct, and I've closely inspected 6 cars for comparison (in Carlisle and Kissimmee, 3 of which were dowdy enough for me to believe they were original).

I'd be happy to give dimensions as you see fit, and you can accept or reject based on what other info you get. However, my car isn't located at my home (it's in a nearby storage unit), so I can't run out to the garage at any-old-time to give you instant info. But I do get the car usually once a week for continuing mech/elec refresh work and driving around.

Also: I asked a member to provide me the paint code for the yellow grille paint for a car he was working on. Never heard back from him.

I believe it is the same as the yellow in the stripe, but I've never seen a fresh job, only faded versions. I've found a rattle can that's darn pretty close, so let the masking procedure begin.

I can get that paint code if you want.
If you did, I'd consider going to a autobody supplier and having a look at what a sample looks like compared to my rattlers.

Because it was something Hurst used to (shoddily!) cover the 300's original red, I kinda thought nobody had a true historic code for it. I've publicly asked here before....crickets. So I was going to wing it with something very close, and since it's not right up against the stripe I figured it would pass the sniff test.

That's original paint alright. As much as I love the freshly painted, stock, and custom stuff. I love the original stuff best. Only original once. Great car. Hope he doesn't change a thing on it. Two thumbs up:thumbsup:

Are you looking for detailed pictures or exacting measurements? I'm sure I could get some pictures taken soon.

I still own Carsten's survivor, still original except for the fiberglass parts but I documented These as well, though I suspect, the trunklid was redone once with my car while still with the first owner. Might be able to put up a few pics this week, pretty busy at the moment.

I would be interested of pictures of hood edge. and just under lip of your hood. Mine had rivets holding it in, and the paint on mine was original. I have a second original hood and that one does not have rivets. When we fixed my hood I put the rivets back like it was. Im just wondering if anyone else's hood had rivets to help hold it to the frame.

Have to look for the pics, These are prints not stored on a Computer. From what I remember the fiberglass Hood had rivets on the sides, the back was only glued plus it had some Support through the trim Piece there, the front had screws that were laminated over and just crudely cut short on the underside still showing through plus glue that had however completely separeted already. And there was a piece of wire mesh put in between the two parts about in the middle to shield the fiberglass a bit, I doubt it had any actual effect though.

The Gold paint btw. was a rush Job with sloppy masking Job with some overspray and no disassembly at all including the door handles.
