Hi all, this is mainly for C-body owners in Connecticut. I was wondering if anyone knows where THE BEST paint and body shop is, in this crappy state. Would really like and prefer it to be on the cheaper side too. I ask because, although NOT anytime soon, my stepdad would like to get a few of his cars body worked and painted. A friend of ours used to do close to perfect body and paint, BUT does not do it anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The two places near me that I'd take the Monaco to without question:

Hyde Autoworks Unlimited | Auto Body Shop | Stafford Springs

They're a bit of a trek for you but I've seen work from these guys and it was stunning. One of the cars I knew as a kid as it was owned and daily driven by a friend of my fathers. After rotting in a barn for 20 years, he finally took it to these guys about ten years ago. It still looks fantastic.

Body Shop, Auto Repair, Refinishing & More

These guys have done well by me. They took care of my 2014 Ram 2500 when a 75 foot rotten maple tree fell on it and my 2015 Challenger when a stoned kid backed into it. I've never had work on a classic done here but Wayne (the owner) is a fantastic guy, super professional and has been around long enough to have worked on our cars when they we're new. He's also very current on new processes.

They're gettin' few and far between and can charge like electricians if they can do the work. .. really makes me want to pick up a welder and get to work on my own skills.

If you find " THE BEST and on the cheaper side" I can guarantee they will be booked up into the next century.

What I have always found,

If you want CHEAP !!! IT WON'T BE GOOD !!!

If you want GOOD !!! IT WON'T BE CHEAP !!!

And if you want "THE BEST" DIG DEEP AND EXPECT TO WAIT !!!

And no, Neither Hyde nor Johnson are cheap. Just good.

You're doing it the right way, asking to be referred by others instead of just cold calling someone from some Internet site.

Why don't you ask Ralph where he gets his cars done? Or Steve @roadcuda where he had his Roadrunner done?

Bundy Motors In Tolland, CT. Ask for Jerry and tell em Greer sent you.

Bundy Automotive

I’ve seem some work they’ve done on some mustangs and was impressed. They mostly do work on Chebbies and Fords, but a good body place is a good body place. They won’t be cheap, but a very friendly bunch.

Cheap and good quality do not go together. Have Bob call Bill A or use who Ralph uses. A place in my town did the Queen's '74 Road Runner.

Bundy are definitely good folk. My cousin Hauled cars for them back in the days when I had my 68. ... I’m actually considering them for some mechanical on the 67 as they're a stone's throw from my house. A lot of them seem pretty stoked to see it when I went for a quote.

The only thing I really know about them for body work is the work they have done on my neighbors 63 Galaxie P code ... I’m not a ford guy but I stop breathing for a few minutes every time that thing rolls out of the garage... real stunner.
