Graveyard Carz New Season Starts November 30

I looked and my DVR made the transition from Velocity to Motor Trend like it never happened, GYC is set to record on Friday. Still have a few episodes to catch up on before I see a forward look beast.

You won't be disappointed.

I was watching GYC tonight and Morman said there was a handful of factory 1972 V Code RR's and Chargers that were produced. I have never heard of one or seen one. Has anybody else seen or heard of one and better yet any existing documentation or pictures of one????

I wonder why it was rated at 330hp in the article? Wasn't the 1971 rated at 390hp???

Well it could be a misprint in the article, but also Mopar was downsizing (well known) HP ratings in the Early 70's as statistics of accident deaths starting coming into the insurance industry of all these muscle car wreaks and rates were rising due to higher horsepower hurting sales. Same happened to the Motorcycle industry, the Honda 750 & Kawasaki Z1 brought on the 600cc class to get under the high cc surcharge.

I can remember one of the scariest rides as I ever experienced was when I was 16 years old in the back seat of a brand new 1969 Chevy Nova with a 396 Big Block in it as the car was going sideways with every bang shift of the 4 speed as the driver was letting go of the steering wheel to shift with his left hand as he had lost his right arm when he was riding shotgun in his buddies Z28 when he wrapped it around a telephone pole.

Then there was the living proof episode that Joe actually owned a car as we stopped by the accident scene where he cut in half two telephone poles with his Z28, Years later we still found a fairly good size part of the front spoiler in the ditch, and when we got back from the out of state road trip my friend made Joe get out the State Police accident scene photographs that were used at his trial to show me. Think he lost his license for 5 years over it so this was like 6/7 years later.

A lot of muscle cars were built and a lot ended up in the boneyard back then.

Watched GYC tonight and couldn't believe how he saved that 71 Super Bee with the crushed roof. I thought for sure that car was going to be a parts car!!!

I’ve tried several times to watch the show. Saving Mopars from oblivion is a good thing. They do fantastic work and save cars that others would consider too far gone, as NYB noted above. But I can’t take Worman. He knows Mopars for sure but he’s an annoying f**king jerk. What car guy wouldn’t love working in a place like that? I couldn’t work for him though. I’d have to quit or I’d end up punching him out.

I would bet he is different when the cameras aren't rolling.

He's better than he used to be. His daughter calls him out all the time now, which is good. I'm disappointed the show has turned into a tutorial for assembling an engine and bolting a transmission to it. But I'm sure there's plenty of people that don't, and they like it. The other thing I've noticed, is how over the top they have gone when using personal protective equipment when they use a sand blasting cabinet, Will in a space suit in the paint booth, etc. I get safety, but if the cabinet is that bad you need a respirator, fix it or get a new cabinet. I like the cars, and when they compare various years and models. I still watch it, but it's getting old.

Speaking of old, what's the car Mark's sitting in when he's telling Will it will be the Hellephant recipient? A Forward Look car?

I do like seeing Royal onthe show.

Royal and Will are the only two on the show with a brain.

Haven't watched in a long time... back when I did I envisioned myself working there and the episode where he was found shrink wrapped to a lift and left hanging, while gagged, for the day... maybe upside down. I'm pretty sure that he would have law enforcement escort me off property if I ever worked there, and I promise he'd never play around within arms reach of me.

I'm almost interested enough to watch now though, lack of PPE has been a pet peeve of mine with most of the car building shows. Too many folks take their inspiration to try stuff from those, and then hurt themselves due to not understanding why the guy on the show is doing it wrong.

Simple stuff like wearing eye protection when grinding or cutting metal.

Or getting under a car only held by a floor Jack and no Jack stands. My dumb *** nephew sees that on Nascar and thinks its OK. I still yell at his *** and kick him if he does that **** in front of me!!!

Marks sitting in the car when he's telling Will, a Further would fit that vent window in the shot as they are discussing it.

I like watching and seeing how much they job out on a vehicle.

Kind of blows a hole in his we do it all.
FFS no one in his shop can do a vinyl roof? And glass?
That's easy, back in the 70's, guy I work with his son (#7) in his 20's did vinyl, made good coin doing it for dealers, a lot of the vinyl roofs were installed at the dealer level around my area. Did his dad's Buick LeSabre at the shop, took a couple of hours, no more.

Then count the number of time the engines won't start, scheeech.

Didn't pay too much attention to the roof job, but it was just to get it back to whatever and they were going to sell it off as a repairable, stupid why put the labor into something that will most likely be cut off. Just Marks old school lesson in how to use a port-a-power I guess.

Something like that should be done on a frame table, ya know, they do have them now with laser alignment, sheeet it's been close to 3 decades since my cousins husband showed me his new one at his shop.
