My new ‘67 Crown Coupe

I don't miss my '64 Crown Coupe, but it made me appreciate the finer qualities of the cars. The seats were very comfortable after 45 years, and the car felt solid sitting in the driver's seat. I wish I took more pictures of it when I owned it. But I still love the looks of a '64 front end.

This will be at the car show and swap meet today at the Packard Proving Grounds with a for sale sign in it.
I gotta sell before I fall further in love with it.

I’d be a bit surprised if the next owner didn’t see this car in person for the first time today. Every time I looked over to the car there seemed to be a couple of people looking it over and taking a pic of my number on the sign and every time I went over to the car I ended up fielding questions and showing it off. So I’m a Bit tired to start a new thread on it at this moment but I’ll put a price on it and start a new thread in the classifieds soon. I’ve done a lot of work on it to this point and it still needs more but from this point on someone can drive and enjoy it while taking it to the next level. Anybody interested in more details can message me here.
It will have a full set of wheelcovers.

So the first day of driving it around all day it became apparent at the valve cover gaskets weren’t going to do there job even after snugging them up so I’m in the process of replacing them and cleaning up the top of the engine. I’m also going to check the plugs, change the fuel filter and try to fix the leaky old carb. The heads are 915s and not 516s like my car had.

For several reasons that previously mentioned 10K number is no longer on the table. I’ve spent a couple of more days on it this week and the “as is” part has changed so the price will reflect that.

The 915 heads are worth keeping. Added ~25 HP over the '66 heads. I added a set to my New Yorker 30 years ago. Came off a 67Newport. Added quite a bit of get up and go to the car. I think they are called the Magnum heads.

I had to recreate the trunk linings, mine were so banged up after 30 years of stuff sliding around in the trunk. They're made out of cardboard. Used the originals as a template after removing them. Bought a couple large shipping boxes from Uhaul and transferred the outline to them. Cut them out and marked off all the bends with a marker. Used a straight edge to do the bending. Couple cans of black paint and they look like originals. Maybe a little better quality. I found a couple yards of carpet for the trunk on ebay for around $20.

This week it got valve cover gaskets, points, plugs and the carb no longer leaks after replacing all the gaskets in it, boy was it clean inside. I was pleasantly surprised.
I also took apart the bulkhead connectors, cleaned, greased and repaired one slightly burnt connector.
It really is running smoothly but it does blow a little smoke out the tailpipe and I’m pretty sure there’s never been anything major done to the engine, including timing chain replacement. I did play with the dwell and in the process was turning the engine back and forth by hand with the distributor cap off and didn’t notice any excessive play in back and forth movement of the rotor. There was some valve seal pieces laying around the top of the heads so maybe that has something to do with the smoke which isn’t constant.

I’d never be able to keep it this way, but I’d have to take the wheel covers off once and a while to see it like this.... I don’t know why but it just looks fantastic.

I’m happy to say That the perspective buyer passed his interview and I allowed him to make me an offer.
This beauty is now with its new owner and is staying in Michigan so I’m happy to say I’ll get to see it on occasion.
