Looking for a black console. Just need the plastic base but would take the entire console if it doesn't break the bank. I know 66 New Yorker consoles work but not sure of other models....

Do they interchange with the 65 consoles?

No, the '65 console is different. 1966 is technically a one year only console because it was made in two pieces to accommodate the rear extension used in the '66 Chargers. It was also made of fiberglass instead of ABS plastic. The good news is that it's interchangeable with the 1967 and up plastic version, so you can use any 1966-1972 C body and 1966-1970 B body console if you aren't doing a super-correct restoration. The bad news is, despite the fact that they repop all the parts, prices still seem to be climbing on them, and expect to pay at least $300 for something decent.

The 65 console also came in a two piece version for the Monaco, the front was the same for each, but the back end varied if it had the long or short unit. I was more wondering about the lower construction since the 66 and up had the new style shifter mechanism.

The lower part looks to be completely different from '65 to '66. I think the only part they share are the courtesy lamps. The '65 console may be a one year only item also. It looks similar to the unit that was used in '63 and '64, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had to make some changes for the new body in '65. I've never had any Chrysler products older than 1966, so I don't have much first hand knowledge with 1965 and down. That could change soon, as a friend just bought a trio of 1964 Chrysler 300 project cars that we will be retrieving in the near future.

No I don't need super correct and if it's fiberglass I may be able to repair it? Regardless, I'm still looking for a replacement!

Your best bet would be a trip to Carlisle in July. There will be plenty to choose from. Being in Winchester, it's not toot far of a drive.

Carlisle Chrysler Nationals

Although it's not shown in the video, there's a huge Mopar only swap meet at the show.
