SMS lead time

I dealt with them recently for a vinyl top

I told them up front I heard they were lame

Told them they would take my money and not deliver and that would be fraud

Told them I needed to have manager call me to discuss my order - he did

Asked manager for lead time - he promised 8 weeks

I assured him that I would post the transaction on the web if he failed to produce as promised

Received top on 55th day
:wideyed:

Lucky you!

I got a sample for my '72 Fury's headliner from SMS. This was after I ordered one from Stock Interiors that didn't fit (PH23 vs PH29 roof). It stated it was the correct material for the car but it wasn't. It was a perforated vinyl instead of the cloth.

I ended up just having the installer order the headliner. Not sure where he got it from but it came from California. It was the original material and looks great.

I just placed an order for a vinyl top and headliner. They said 6 weeks.

The new white vinyl sample they sent me is more of a "pearl" tinge to it whereas my original 46 year old vinyl that has been exposed all its life is a flat white. Can anybody confirm this is what the new white vinyl is supposed to look like?

Thanks,

FWIW, I ordered samples for Medina, my ‘71 Monaco. What came from SMS was a perforated vinyl, whereas the original is a wafered fabric. I checked on @71Polara383’s Monacucamonga, same fabric as mine though in black. What SMS sent me for the seats and carpets were exact matches, though, so my headliner experience may be a fluke.

Haaaaa!

You will be lucky to get that vinyl from SMS by the end of year!

Good Luck!!!!

I needed some vinyl for my b-pillars and gave them the interior code and a description, top sample was the correct one.
They may need a sample or a good description to better match.

It took ONE YEAR for SMS to make an upholstery kit for a 71 Sport Fury. I am having someone pick it up as I don't want to risk it getting damaged in shipping. Therefore, I have not seen it yet but if it looks as good as the ones that they made for the green 71 Sport Fury GT Sunroof car I will be happy.

l had visa on their *** after a prolonged wait and they read them the riot act
...they didn't like that and came through….carpet was short in rear corners......head liner is generic now from what l understand...same style for all short of colors....good match on material and they seem to have some hard to find fabrics..
glad l haven't had to deal with door panels...3 years geez....you need to fly some dark suits in...

I just received an email from UPS Quantum View. A package of 3.7 lbs has been shipped from SMS Auto Fabrics. Delivery date: May 20. I'm not sure what to make of that nor how to react, so: :wtf:...and stay tuned.

I got a phone call from Kim at SMS yesterday asking about some details related to my door panel order too! She said they are presently working on my door panels, so that is a good sign finally too. So after more than 3 years, they are finally coming through.

It's sad when it has to come to that.

Unacceptable! That is B.S.! And do you know if that is the bright, or ivy gold? I didn't want to say before, but I always found it to be on the "browner" side. In pictures at least. Never did see it in person.

Only 1 more year to go....

New headliner arrived on Saturday! The revelry was short lived, though, because the one they made is wrong. I called them back today and they agreed to send me a replacement, and I supplied some dimensions of my existing to compare against their pattern...

Yep, A 69 Charger vinyl top won't fit on a 78 NYB.

Update, received replacement headliner two months ago. This time it was the correct pattern but still the wrong color. Back waiting and still waiting on the vinyl top too!
