I recently picked up this 1973 Chrysler Newport Navajo Edition. Decided to list it for sale to see if anyone wanted to restore it or use it for parts. I had originally thought about restoring it but decided I have too many projects already!

Car has a decent amount of options.
400 big block (2bbl)
PS, PB (disc), A/C, rear defrost, remote mirror, low fuel light, etc. (Check out the window sticker photo.)

The car was last on the road in 1992 and parked in a shed. I got the car running off a bottle and it runs very well. No smoke or noises. Idles smooth and the transmission goes right into gear. It goes forward and backward but I haven’t driven it at any speed or distance due to no brakes. Has the original 1973 date code orange MoPar sparkplug wires. Odometer reads 48,004 miles. Seems to be original.

The majority of the body is solid but the rear quarter lowers and doglegs are toast. The original owner screwed tin to the quarters as a “fix” for the rust. The floors appear to be good as well as the fenders. The paint is original with hand painted orange pinstripe but the passenger front fender has been painted at some point with a vinyl pinstripe added. Paint is presentable but up close you can see surface rust spots in places. Original white vinyl top is in great shape and the roof doesn’t show any signs of rust underneath. Front bumper has rust holes in it.

The interior is nearly perfect. The driver side head rest and armrest has splits but everything else is nice. Only needing some cleaning. The orange shag carpet is definitely cool! Dashpad is nice with no cracks.

Clean the fuel tank and do the brakes and you could probably be drivin it as is. Patch the quarters and give it a paintjob and you would have a pretty decent car!

Has a lot of old paperwork with it including the window sticker. Two sets of original keys.

Car is located in Hickory, NC.

I will have a title for it once it comes in the mail.

Price is $2500 or possible trade.

Nice color combination. Seats are super cool. If I did not already have a line of Mopars waiting for restoration, I would jump on it.

I’d rather someone fix this car up. I would but I got three more cars coming in and need some space!

I also got a really clean 73 Newport with zero options as well. (Aftermarket vinyl top) I somewhat considered making this car into a Navajo.

I’d consider a package deal for the pair!

Still up for grabs.

I will give it a little bit longer to see if anyone’s interested otherwise I will begin to part it out and the rest will be hauled off to scrap. Need to clear some space.

PM me if you’re looking for parts.

Love that interior! I’m really liking the ‘73s more and more each time I see one. She deserves to be saved rather than parted out.

If I were trying to sell it, i’d remove the lumpy “patch panels”. I’m thinking rust holes will look a lot better and be less of a turn off to a potential buyer.

A rust hole versus a crappy patch I doubt is the difference between someone buying the car or not. The car needs quarters.

It would make a great parts car for someone with a Navajo or wanting to maybe “clone” a Navajo if that’s even a thing.

Car has 48k miles and runs really well. I’ll probably be keeping the powertrain and seeing if there’s any interest in some of the other parts here before too long as I’m clearing up space.

Clean NC title in my name.

I'd strongly suggest that if you do get to the point of parting out, which I hope not. That you only sell the interior as an entire set.

Do the car some justice.

Couldn't someone have a set of those seats made at SMS if they wanted to create a Navajo?

Might have to wait 2-3 years for SMS to make them.

I have sold the gold car.

I don’t know what casting number the engine is. Probably be hard to see the number with the engine in the car.
