Need to bypass my heater core.

Sprung a leak on the heater core yesterday.
After replacing the floor pans and all that other work I've decided to bypass the heat system.
I don't drive her when its cold out anyway.
It's a 440
What's the correct if there is one way to bypass the core?

The easiest way is to use a section of heater hose to form a loop from the outlet and inlet heater hose connections on the water pump housing.

Can't you just cap off the two nipples on the water pump for a cleaner look?

Those rubber caps are not reliable. The end will break off sooner than you would think and at the worst possible time. It would be a cleaner look, but it would be a time bomb.

Unscrew the nipples from the water pump and install threaded plugs.

LoL ! Me and my brother argued about that 30 years ago. I told him that’s the forever fix. He did that and it stayed that way forever. It never did let him down and I guess you don’t really need a heater in Az. (You do in aconvertible though). Tom Race is a great source for those little rusty pipes if you snap one off. RT specialties.

The threaded plugs are what would be there if your car was ordered heater delete. Yes, they work. NPT, so they can really get tight there too. Best way for keeping it flexible in case of a future heater core fix is the heater hose loop.

GM makes a molded heater bypass loop - no one will know if you install one on your Mopar and it'll look purdy...

Stellar idea. Unable to pull the core right now but needed to bypass to stop a passenger side footwell drip. This did the trick until the work can begin.

Might get that next spring. Looks slicker than owlshit. I just loop the heater hose between inlet and outlet come around May, then reconnect to the heater core around November. I usually flush the old coolant out November too, giving Tilly a major enema for the winter and following seasons....
